A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700, registration N452WN performing flight WN-3356 from Los Angeles,CA to San Francisco,CA (USA), was climbing out of Los Angeles' runway 24L when the aircraft received a bird strike. The crew stopped the climb at about FL300 and returned to Los Angeles for a safe landing on runway 24L about 35 minutes after departure.

The FAA reported the aircraft received minor damage to a passenger window due to a bird strike.

An Aeroflot Airbus A321-200, registration VP-BES performing flight SU-1008 from Moscow Sheremetyevo to Kaliningrad (Russia) with 171 passengers and 7 crew, landed on Kaliningrad's runway 24 at about 22:55L (20:55Z) but veered right off the runway and came to a stop just short of taxiway C with the nose gear collapsed. The aircraft was evacuated via slides.

The airport was closed for about 30 hours as result of the occurrence.

A TUI Airlines Nederland Boeing 767-300, registration PH-OYI performing flight OR-7688 from Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic) to Warsaw (Poland), was enroute at FL380 about 50nm east of Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) when the crew decided to divert to Amsterdam (Netherlands) reporting they suspected a fuel leak on the #2 engine (CF6, right hand). The aircraft landed safely on Amsterdam's runway 36R about 35 minutes after turning north and leaving FL380.

A ANA All Nippon Airways Boeing 777-300, registration JA786A performing flight NH-204 (dep Dec 31st) from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Tokyo Haneda (Japan) with 147 people on board, was enroute at FL330 about 320nm northeast of Krasnojarsk (Russia) when the crew needed to shut the right hand engine (GE90) down due to the failure of the engine. The aircraft drifted down to FL230, continued for another 250nm in the general direction towards Japan, turned around about 385nm north of Irkutsk (Russia) and about 470nm eastnortheast of Krasnojarsk and diverted to Krasnojarsk for a safe landing on runway 29 about 2 hours after leaving FL330.

A replacement Boeing 777-200 registration JA717A was dispatched from Tokyo Haneda to Krasnjoarsk, resumed the flight and reached Tokyo with a delay of 21 hours.

An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N878NN performing flight AA-2594 from San Francisco,CA to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA), departed San Francisco's runway 01R and was in the initial climb when the crew reported numerous small birds had impacted the aircraft upon rotation just at the crossing runways. In the absence of any abnormal indications the crew continued the climb and flight to Chicago for a safe landing in Chicago 3.5 hours later.

A Jet Airways Boeing 737-800, registration VT-JBG performing flight 9W-2374 from Goa to Mumbai (India) with 154 passengers and 7 crew, backtracked runway 26, lined up runway 26 and was accelerating the engines for takeoff when the aircraft continued to turn right, the crew rejected takeoff, the aircraft went off the right runway edge almost perpendicular, went over soft ground and across a road and came to a stop with the nose gear collapsed and both engines making ground contact. The aircraft was evacuated, 15 occupants received minor injuries.

An Aerosucre Colombia Boeing 727-200, registration HK-4544 performing a freight flight from Puerto Carreno to Bogota (Colombia) with 6 crew, did not become airborne while taking off from Puerto Carrena's runway 25 at 17:20L (23:20Z), broke through the airport perimeter fences, became airborne, lost height again about 3 minutes later, impacted ground about 5nm from the airport and burst into flames. Two persons were rescued alive, four persons died on scene, one of the initial survivors succumbed to the injuries in hospital.

Colombia's Civil Aviation Authority Aerocivil reported the aircraft crashed three minutes after takeoff from Puerto Carreno. 5 occupants were killed, one occupant survived correcting earlier reports of 4 fatalities and 1 survivor.

About 15 minutes later the crew advised they had an issue with a cargo door, needed to dump fuel and would return to Dublin. The aircraft was vectored over the Irish Sea, dumped fuel, and landed safely on Dublin's runway 28 about 70 minutes after departure.

A Delta Airlines McDonnel Douglas MD-90, registration N941DN performing flight DL-2392 from Dayton,OH to Atlanta,GA (USA) with 123 passengers and 6 crew, departed Dayton's runway 06R when the crew stopped the climb at 3000 feet declaring emergency due to the failure of the right hand engine (V2525). The crew requested a return to Dayton performing a slow right hand turn. The aircraft positioned for an ILS approach to runway 06L, upon intercepting the localizer advised they needed more time to run the checklists, were vectored off the approach again and back onto the ILS approach and landed safely on runway 06L about 25 minutes after departure.

A replacement MD-90 registration N905DA reached Atlanta with a delay of 6 hours.

An American Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration N278AY performing flight AA-730 from Charlotte,NC (USA) to London Heathrow,EN (UK) with 229 people on board, was climbing out of Charlotte's runway 36R when the crew stopped the climb at about 6000 feet declaring emergency and reporting very bad vibrations over the limits of the #1 engine (PW4168, left hand), everything was running they just needed to run the checklists, they needed the longest runway available and a long approach to run the checklists. Being offered to dump fuel the crew responded "We can't do that". The aircraft landed overweight but safely back on runway 36C about 25 minutes after departure.

A replacement A330-300 registration N274AY reached London with a delay of 7 hours.

A Thai Airways Airbus A330-300, registration HS-TEJ performing flight TG-206 from Phuket to Bangkok (Thailand), was accelerating for takeoff from runway 09 when the crew rejected takeoff after the right hand engine (PW4168) emitted a loud bang. The right hand engine emitted two more bangs as the aircraft slowed. The aircraft returned to the apron.

The flight was cancelled.

A LAMIA Bolivia Avro RJ-85, registration CP-2933 performing flight LMI-2933 from Santa Cruz (Bolivia) to Medellin (Colombia) with 72 passengers and 9 crew, was descending towards Medellin about 15-20nm southeast of Medellin in the area of La Ceja (Colombia) at 21:56L (02:56Z Nov 29th) when the aircraft disappeared from radar screens. The Airport of Medellin reported a search was initiated and the crash site has been located in the municipality of La Ceja at the slopes of Cerro Gordo (approximate coordinates N5.9805 W75.4183), there may be survivors. Authorities confirmed 5 survivors (3 players, a flight attendant and a journalist) and 76 fatalities stating one of initially 6 survivors died in hospital care.

A Cathay Pacific Boeing 777-300, registration B-KPU performing flight CX-250 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Hong Kong (China) with 214 passengers and 18 crew, was enroute at FL350 about 100nm south of Novosibirsk (Russia) when the crew received an aft cargo smoke indication and decided to divert to Novosibirsk. The aircraft landed safely on runway 25 about 20 minutes later. Emergency services did not find any trace of fire, heat or smoke.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Novosibirsk.

The aircraft slowed safely, vacated the runway at the last turn off and stopped clear of the runway for an examination by emergency service. The right hand brakes overheated causing the tyres to deflate. Emergency services cooled the brakes.

An ANA All Nippon Airways Boeing 787-800, registration JA811A performing flight NH-763 from Osaka Itami to Okinawa (Japan) with 314 people on board, was enroute at FL400 about 220nm southwest of Osaka Itami Airport about 35 minutes into the flight when the crew detected a decreasing oil quantity indication for the left hand engine (Trent 1000) and decided to return to Osaka. The aircraft landed safely on Itami's runway 32L about 80 minutes after departure. Attending emergency services did not find any trace of an oil leak.

A replacement Boeing 777-200 registration JA742A reached Okinawa with a delay of 5:50 hours.

A Finnair Airbus A320-200, registration OH-LXF performing flight AY-427 from Helsinki to Rovaniemi (Finland) with 166 people on board, had just levelled off at cruise FL300 about 100nm north of Helsinki when the crew decided to return to Helsinki following a lightning strike. The aircraft landed safely back about 45 minutes after departure.
A replacement Airbus A321-200 registration OH-LZA reached Rovaniemi with a delay of 2 hours.
The airline reported the A320 was struck by lightning about 30 minutes after departure when it entered a rain cloud.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Helsinki.

A Qatar Airways Boeing 777-300, registration A7-BAO performing flight QR-778 from Miami,FL (USA) to Doha (Qatar), was enroute at FL350 about 15nm northeast of Zurich (Switzerland) when the crew reported smoke on the flight deck and requested to divert to Zurich with CATIII ILS available for runway 16. ATC reported that only CAT I was available right at that point, CAT II was being activated. About 10 minutes later ATC reported that CAT III was now available for runway 16. The crew requested to dump fuel, but subsequently indicated they were not dumping and preparing for an overweight landing as they had problems with the fuel dump system, then the crew indicated they were now dumping fuel. The aircraft established on the localizer runway 16 still dumping fuel, reported they needed more track miles to descend, were vectored off the localizer again, finished dumping and rejoined the localizer. Tower queried "Confirm gear down and locked", response "gear down and locked, thank you", the aircraft landed safely, the crew indicated they would stop on the runway and requested emergency services to check whether there was any smoke visible. Emergency services reported no smoke. The crew reported everything was now normal again, the crew cancelled Mayday and decided to vacate the runway and taxi to the apron.

A Korean Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration HL7766 performing flight KE-781 from Seoul (South Korea) to Fukuoka (Japan) with 272 people on board, landed on Fukuoka's runway 16 but was unable to vacate the runway due to a nose wheel steering failure. The aircraft was towed off the runway about 15 minutes later.

Japanese media indicate a possible hydraulic problem causing the loss of nose wheel steering.

An Air Caraibes Airbus A330-300, registration F-OONE performing flight TX-542 from Paris Orly (France) to Pointe a Pitre (Guadeloupe), was climbing out of Orly's runway 24 when the crew reported problems with the pressurization systems and stopped the climb at 5000 feet. The aircraft returned to Orly's runway 24 for a safe overweight landing about 30 minutes after departure.

The aircraft was able to depart again after about 2.5 hours on the ground and reached Pointe a Pitre with a total delay of 4 hours.

The aircraft had encountered a similiar problem on departure from Orly to Pointe a Pitre.

A Delta Airlines McDonnel Douglas MD-88, registration N902DE performing flight DL-508 from Panama City,FL to Atlanta,GA (USA), was on final approach to Atlanta's runway 09R when a bird impacted the aircraft. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on the runway.

The FAA reported the aircraft received damage to the nose cone.

*AIRSPEED INDICATOR FAILURE*

A United Boeing 757-200, registration N19136 performing flight UA-127 from Dublin (Ireland) to Washington Dulles,DC (USA), was enroute at FL320 about 75nm north of Shannon (Ireland) when the crew decided to return to Dublin reporting a technical problem. While descending towards Dublin the crew advised one of their airspeed indicators had failed and they were therefore unable to proceed with their Oceanic crossing, they were still checking whether their landing weight would permit a landing in Dublin or whether they needed the longer runway at Shannon. When descending through FL210 the crew reported they managed to restore their airspeed indicator and thus they were again able to cross the Ocean. The aircraft climbed back to cruise level and continued to Washington where the aircraft is estimated to arrive with a delay of 25 minutes.
