The floating islands of Peru’s Lake Titicaca are a unique collection of villages constructed entirely of reeds. They were built by the Uros people who arrived in this region some 3000 years ago and still live on these islands today. The Uros also build large reed boats to move between the floating islands.

You can visit the floating islands on our 14-day Highlights of Peru tour. See the detailed itinerary here: https://www.grasstracksafaris.com/discover-ecuador-peru/highlights-of-peru/

From December to March, the Botswana rains turn the dusty Kalahari into a lush, green oasis. Thousands of zebras migrate here for the fresh grass and to give birth. Experience another of Africa’s great migration on the Kalahari Migration Safari. Spend your days with your private guide as you search this unique region of Botswana for huge herds of zebra, calving wildebeests, and hunting predators.

From late December through March, the great herds of 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras and gazelles arrive on the short grass plains of the southern Serengeti for the calving season. With abundant grass and water, the herds give birth to thousands of newborn wildebeests and zebras over a 3-week period, usually in February. It’s an amazing wildlife spectacle with lots of predator/prey interactions.

We ended our Peru trip with a 5 day trek across the remote, high Andes. The hike was simply amazing. We hiked over passes reaching nearly 17,000 ft and through landscapes of snowy peaks, deep canyons, and wide valleys. Along the way we enjoyed great food, hot showers, a comfortable bed each night, and llamas to carry our gear. One of the best experiences I've ever had!
