Red Island Sea Glass Beachcombing Adventures on the East Coast of Canada 🌊 Shop my Collections 🐚 Welcome to Red Island Sea Glass! Steph, Creative Designer

Ever since I can remember I've collected sea glass and other beach treasures along the shores of Prince Edward Island. I have found every colour of glass out there from the most basic colours to some of the most rare like red, orange, pink, yellow and black. I've also found combo colours, fully intact bottles, bottle stoppers and many beads & marbles. Instead of hoarding all my beach treasures I'v

e decided to share them with the rest of the world. I started out making jewelry but jewelry requires more specialty type pieces which means I still had lots of regular, but special shards so I decided to turn them into mobiles and art. Where my shop name comes from... "Red Island Sea Glass". The beautiful Prince Edward Island is such a special place, completely surrounded by water hence, island and is one of the Atlantic provinces on the east coast of Canada. PEI is known for being the "Red Island" because our soil is made up of reddish coloured sandstone. We have over 90 sandy beaches decorated with reddish sand, sand dunes and red sandstone cliffs. As you can imagine the main transport for years to and from the island was by boat so the shores, from tip-to-tip, of this precious island have seen many boats, ships and ferries come and go. Of course, some of these ships to have visited hadn’t lived to see another sunny day above water. Many shipwrecks and a plethora of glass submerged for the rest of time or until someone plucks it from the ocean. There’s also the case of people using our oceans as dumping grounds but that’s not as glamorous to think of so I prefer to think that everything I find came off a glorious ship, like the Titanic! My beautiful Island has so much to offer including lots and lots of sea glass. If you ever have the opportunity to visit please do but if not, take a gander at my shop items where hopefully you can find something special I've uncovered from the depths of time.

"Amberina Dreams"

A fiery celebration of ultra-rare red sea glass and sea pottery, this artwork showcases a lifetime of collecting treasures from the sea. At its heart is a stunning red milk glass scallop shell bead, discovered along the shores of Newfoundland, complemented by a red and white milk glass marble and a frosty red cat's eye marble. The piece features ultraviolet reds, amberina red, bonfire red, red flash glass, vintage buttons, and vibrant pottery shards.

Each element I've carefully curated, with some pieces treasured for over 15 years, making this a true collector's masterpiece. Displayed in a deep, crisp white shadowbox frame, the arrangement allows the thick marbles to stand out, while the pure white backdrop emphasizes the vibrancy of the reds. In sunlight, the artwork radiates warmth, with a golden hue illuminating the timeless beauty of these rare finds.

"Amberina Dreams" is more than a statement piece—it's a tribute to the rarity and allure of sea glass, perfect for the ultimate sea glass enthusiast.

✨️ New in the shop! ✨ I’ve just listed 6 unique sea treasure frames, brimming with rare finds. Some feature shards from last week’s adventure, while others include pieces I’ve held onto for years. The black-and-white frame, ‘Enchanted Quest,’ tells a whimsical tale of adventurers chasing a mythical unicorn (look for pottery shards that reveal glimpses of the story). You can find that story on my website. I’d love to hear which frame captures your heart! 💫 Link in bio.

My favourite finds from four days of adventures this week! Braving the bitter cold, wind, and rain was absolutely worth it. Some of these shards feature patterns I’ve never seen before, while others are familiar treasures I’ve found once or twice—or even many times over. This haul comes from two different beaches at opposite ends of the island ❄️🌬

I was considering heading out today, but with the wind chill making it feel like -9°C, I think I’ll stay cozy instead. Hope everyone had a wonderful and warm weekend! 🔥🪵
