RESCUED!!!

RESCUED!!! Many on the island have been following the situation involving the round up of 55 dogs from the Bantayan proper area in advance of the Holy Week celebrations in Bantayan. The dogs were being kept in a pound in the Mojon area in very cramped cages with no food or water in stifling heat and were scheduled for euthanasia some time today. Some were strays but many are someone's family member and pet. Last minute efforts and gutsy intervention by Greg and Tina, operators of the Island Sanctuary for dogs located in Santa Fe, resulted in all the dogs being safely collected and transported to the sanctuary property early this morning, They will be kept in quarantine for a few days before being released on the fenced property. The Garden was honored to play a small role in the rescue by providing transportation for the dogs to get them to their new home. Stay tuned...more to come. Dogs and butterflies...we like that :)
