Welcome back to ! In this weekly feature, I will highlight different destinations from around the world. Today we're headed to Banff, a town in Alberta, Canada. Banff is located in the Rocky Mountains, and the town is inside Canada's first national park. Banff is one of Canada's most popular tourist destinations, known for its outdoor activities, hot springs and vintage charm. Today's was inspired by the recent holiday travel fiasco and all its missing luggage. When you are traveling, please make sure that your carry-on includes any items that you cannot live without if your suitcase is lost or delayed.

These items include: identification and important documents (license, passport, insurance card, itineraries and confirmations); electronics, headphones and charging cords and plugs; money and credit cards; medical devices and medications (including contacts and glasses); house and car keys; a change of clothes; and TSA-approved toiletries.

For , we're going to talk about jet lag. Traveling across time zones can affect you physically, but here are a few tips to avoid jet lag.

When I'm traveling to a country on the other side of the International Date Line, I take the latest flight I can and I sleep on the plane. When I get there, I try to start the day on their local time and not take naps. The sooner you acclimate to the new time zone, the less likely you are to have jet lag. Make sure to adjust your watch ASAP if it needs to be set manually to help with the transition!

When you finally go to sleep at your destination, make sure to keep your sleeping space comfortable and free of distractions. Use a sleep mask or white noise machine, and maybe think about melanin or another sleep aid (with doctor's OK, of course).

Lastly, stay hydrated. This is always important with air travel, but dehydration can exacerbate jet lag.
