Explore Tekapo’s backcountry by Scenic 4WD Tour and experience The Breathtaking Mackenzie High Country

Just beyond Lake Tekapo’s lakefront lies a vast expansive area of New Zealand’s most impressive landscapes of towering snow capped mountains, glaciated peaks , turquoise sparkling lakes, golden velvet covered hills, roaming sheep; delivering some of the most Outstanding Natural Landscapes of The Mackenzie Country and The World.

Many people don't get the opportunity to explore the incredible landscapes that exist beyond the main roads throughout the Mackenzie Country. Our private access spans over 70,000 acres of remote High Country, offering guests some of the most beautiful vistas in the Mackenzie Basin. Access is only through proper 4WD vehicles, such as our Land Rover Defenders and by private Station permission. Exploring these stations and their inspiring land offers guests a true insight into the visual landscapes of iconic New Zealand beauty. While embracing a hot cuppa and home made snacks , your sure to experience a memorable day out in the High Country, while you await the night time skies.

Our day time tours range from 1.5 hour Merino Sheep Farm Tours on New Zealand’s finest Merino Wool High Country Station “ Glenmore Station” to longer backcountry wilderness tours through the Cass Valley wilderness and a shorter remote 3 hour tour to breathtaking scenic landscapes within Braemar Station situated alongside the eastern shores of Lake Pukaki.

A major focus of our scenic 4WD tours is to allow tourists visiting Lake Tekapo to venture beyond the township and into the backcountry of The Mackenzie Country, where they can experience more of the Unique Outstanding Natural Landscapes found within the beautiful Mackenzie Basin. Our driver guides provide interesting and insightful commentary about the unique landforms and environment found within The Mackenzie Basin , along with a good laugh.
