Introduction
Creativo Painting Studio offers an affordable, commission based painting service to clients within the United States and United Kingdom. My name is Ryan and I have been painting models for many, many years and produce high quality models at a very quick turnaround. What can I expect when dealing with you? This timeline will be based off an agreement of the models/work you have request
ed. If you make further requests (such as adding models), this could of course move the timeline. You will also receive weekly updates on your miniatures--including a photo of progress. This helps ease your mind that the commission is moving along nicely--and also makes sure we are on the same page in terms of style and scheme. This update will be given to you every Sunday evening, although if you need a request earlier in the week I could provide one. So how much is it? A general pricing scheme is as follows;
10 dollars per small based model
20 dollars per medium based model
40 dollars per large based model
100 dollars per gargantuan/colossal sized models
5 dollars extra per model for extensive basing (see my Circle/Trolls for an example of this--as this not only takes time but I have to purchase the bases/do the work)
Showcase Quality will be per request
If I need to assemble/clean the models, there will be a $2 charge per model on small/medium/large--10 on Colossals/Gargants. I can do conversions as well but this will require an email so we can work out what you want before I quote a price. This pricing is generalized. Which means if you order a large commission from me, the prices may be lowered. On the other hand, if you order a single miniature and want Showcase Quality--the price per base size will be a bit higher. This will be worked out prior to any commission starting so we both agree to price and quality. I always send an example/prototype of the model before starting on the entirety of the project. Again, this sets expectations of what we both think the project entails. I stress communication and the last thing I want is different expectations on the style/scheme! So what's all this Showcase Quality or how high of a standard do you paint? Several studios have 5+ levels of painting. I am not a believer in that, as when I paint I have two qualities/grades: Very High and "This is my Warlock/Gargant/Showpiece". So the pricing above is my "Very High" and pretty much everything in my studio is at that level. The exception being my Warlocks/Warcasters/Gargants--as they are my show pieces and they are at Showcase Quality. On big models and centerpieces, we work out pricing/schemes/quality before hand. So, do you buy the models, do I buy the models or what? I can do either/or. I buy Warmachine models from DiscountGamesInc (Because Jay is a terrific guy, super honest and sells at 30% off). If you decide you'll let me buy the models, then I just charge what I pay. This also means if you make an order below 50, I will unfortunately need to charge you for the shipping (because I'll have to pay shipping). If it's above 50, Jay gives free shipping--so no cost to you. However, as listed above, if I have to clean some of those new plastic kits from Privateer--there will be a charge :). I've heard some horror stories about commissions gone bad and they make me nervous. Yep, I've read those for years as well. Typically a couple of things in my experience moderating forums/reading causes commissions to go south. The commission was not communicated very well by either party (different expectations), the painter failed to provide updates, the painter simply took the models and disappeared, etc. This is not a concern with my studio. First, after we agree to a commission, I give you my cell number and my name. So you know who I am, where I live and how to contact me. Second, I have a reputation in the community. I am a moderator on DakkaDakka, frequent several boards, etc. Third? I'm a married guy with children that does this on the side for play money and to paint (as it's my stress reliever). I'm a honest guy, that works a professional job in his non-miniature life--not a teenager looking for a score, so no worries :). I'm interested, where do I start? Use the contact information as found on my page--or email to [email protected] and we can start discussing your project!
