As I walk thru times Sq, something is different. The palace theater, used to here. Now it’s there. Incredibly, it’s been raised up and is no longer on the street level. But now it’s open again, with performances of Tammy Faye going on there. Music by Elton John.

A very enjoyable off-off Broadway show called Music City at the West End Theater wetnyc.org on Manhattans upper west side.

GO SEE IT. It’s highly recommended. We all liked it a lot.
Great story. Wonderful songs. Sung beautifully. Great cast.

A famous WWII aircraft carrier, is now a museum along the Hudson river. During the Mercury and Gemini space flight era, they picked up our returning capsules.

Chrysler building on lex and E42 street. It’s across the street from grand central terminal. Adorning the terminal on the south west corner, is an original eagle from the prior structure here. That was known as grand central station.

The elephants have arrived in the it’s an interesting outdoor, public exhibit. Walk around and learn. It’s about these majestic beasts, the world’s largest land mammal. It’s about climate change. It’s about invasive species. It’s about correcting these issues. It’s also about economics. Each one of for sale. $22k for the tusker.

Moon over the meadowlands. Pre-game tailgate with some interesting characters. A 100-yard flag to honor our great country. In the end it was a great jets victory over NE.

Pizza!!!!!! John’s of Bleeker street has been making coal fired thin crust pizza since 1929. It’s delicious. That’s the reason it’s famous. They DO NoT sell chopped cheese sandwiches. 😁😉 and visit there.

Victory Art for Patriot Day from Preservation Society of Newport County

On Monday, we told about two bronze relief sculptures by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney that we recently installed at The Breakers, her family’s former summer home. They are smaller-scale casts of large panels she created for a World War I Victory Arch in New York’s Madison Square.

Here’s a 1919 photograph of the Victory Arch where Whitney’s panels can be seen on either side. They include the two scenes depicted in the bronzes now at The Breakers. In the center of the left panel is “Blinded,” featuring a soldier blinded by poison gas being assisted by a comrade. On the right is “America at War,” showing soldiers engaged in battle.

It is fortunate that Whitney had the bronze casts made, because the Victory Arch was made of plaster and wood and was torn down after only a year. You can see the bronze casts of “Blinded” and “America at War” in the service drive area outside The Breakers gift shop.
