Today we are going to write a little bit about our wonderful tour guide!!
Vasco Teixeira Rodrigues discovered what graffiti (and hip hop culture) was all about in 1998, when he saw YOUTH and SEA painting the mythical Belém Hall of Fame. That was when he found out the work that he had been photographing for the last 4 years was made by guys (and girls!) his own age, and with spraypaint!!
Since then, he never left a good wall without doccumentation, building a portfolio that tells a story, the history of Lisbon's graffiti.
His love for the culture made him put together events such as the International Graffiti Meeting of Oeiras, back in 1999, where he invited some of the mega-stars of the time, germans DAIM and LOOMIT, as well as two twins that were virtually unknown in the world of street art by then: OS GEMEOS!.
Other big events followed, bringing to Lisbon OS GEMEOS again in 2001, together with the also twins HOW & NOSM, SWET, TASEK, LOGAN, CAN2, etc.
He has also been the promoter of the Seixal Graffiti event, taking place since 2001 to this day, and making it the only true Annual Graffiti Event in Portugal.
He lived half a decade in London, where he met some of his graffiti heroes, like FUTURA 2000.
