Mailman in Antarctica Please like this page to help me get my dream job I’m glad you made it to this page, either by choice or by accident. Please feel free to ask any questions! No.

What do you want from me? In short: I want a ‘like’ and a ‘share’ from you. My purpose is to gather as many ‘Likes’ as possible on this page. Do you want any money from me? Yes. NO! No, really, no. Who are you? My name is Tim, 26, and I’m a Dutch biologist living in Brussels at the moment. I recently graduated from university and I’m looking for a challenging job. Now I found one and you can help

me get it. Ok, bring it on
It all started on February 17, 2015, when someone showed me a job offer from the United Kingdom Antarctic Heritage Trust, in which they are looking for someone to help ‘running the shop, post office, maintenance and museum operation at Port Lockroy, on the tiny Goudier Island off the Antarctic Peninsula’. You have to live on an island the size of a football pitch for five months in very basic conditions with no power, heat of water. The job basically consists of being a mailman, bank manager, shop manager, museum manager, wildlife biologist and tour guide all at the same time while fighting off 2.000 fearsome penguins. To many people this may look like absolute horror, but for me it is the ultimate dream. (Seehttp://www.ukaht.org/downloads/pdfs/Port%20Lockroy%20Job%20Advert%20Jan2015.pdf for the original job description)

What makes you the perfect guy for the job? I’m awesome, adventurous, dedicated, hardworking and I like penguins. I’m able to live under extreme conditions (once my electric toothbrush broke and I didn’t brush my teeth for a whole week), I love travelling and I speak multiple languages fluently, including Dutch, English and that made-up language you only spoke to your brother when you were five years old. I am conscious, positive and meticulous and I’m willing to sacrifice my dignity by creating a page to get a job, with a big chance of the whole project being a total failure. So why this page? I always found it really hard to express my qualities and enthusiasm in just a cover letter and a CV. A unique job like this requires a unique way of getting it. This project shows my dedication and willingness to get this job. Your ‘Like’ is a way of showing support for this cause and help me get the job I really dream of. What is your goal? As many ‘Likes’ as possible. In one week, on February 27, I will send in my job application. Of course, I will show them this page and all the ‘Likes’ you guys gave me! What is the worst that could happen? This page gets only 1 ‘Like’ (my girlfriend) and my job application will be refused. At least, I will know she loves and supports me and keep living my life as I did before. What is the best that could happen? I will get the job, a high five from President Obama, CNN headlines and Justin Bieber gets a disease in his throat so he could never sing again. What’s in it for me? As a token of gratitude, I have decided to send out a maximum of 100 postcards from Antarctica to whoever liked this page (anywhere in the world). If this page gets over 100 likes, I will randomly pick 100 winners whose name will be published on this page. They will be privately contacted for further details. Obviously, the postcards will only be sent if I get the job. The deadline for this project is February 27, 2015. So during the next week please like this page and share it with your friends, family, local news stations. Put it on your Twitter, Instagram and local supermarket and help me to live my dream :)
