We made it to Victoria Park, Ashford. At least this time we got to play and eat our lunch before the heavens opened! The new play area is looking awesome and thereâs some amazing new features in the park. Weâll put out a longer post a little later. #ashford #visitAshford #victoriaPark
Afternoon out at Milton Creek Country Park today. A bit windy, but the sun was warm, and Iâm sure our faces will be pink later. Itâs always nice to play in the play areas here as thereâs lots to keep the kids entertained and some good open green spaces for ball games and kite flying. We followed most of the Red route around the park for our walk. We got to wave at the Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway as it passed by. Lots of butterflies, I only managed to photograph one. #friendsOfMiltonCreek #miltonCreekCountryPark #kemsley #sittingbourne #miltonRegis
Super proud of this one making the most of the wide straight paths at Dartford Central Park. She finally nailed cycling with no stabilisers.
The new play is now open to all, but was super busy, make sure your children are brightly coloured so you can keep track of them in the crowd. Thereâs also a funfair at the park too, so lots of musics, lights and people. (Iâm afraid I didnât notice itâs opening dates and times).

With lots of public fireworks displays going on weâve got a few tips to help you keep track of your kids in the dark, and how to help them stay safe. It only takes a minute for them to disappear into a dark crowd.
đšMake them visible! Front and back! Get them wearing glow bands, battery pack fairy lights, light up head bands, Velcro light bands (cycling). Make sure they can see you too!
đHave a Predefined a meeting place if they get lost. Make it somewhere bright and easy to see. A lamp post, a food truck, etc.
đPoint out the Marshalls, those amazing people in Hi-vis that will help your child if they get lost.
đWrite your mobile phone number on their arm. If all else fails and they do get lost and canât find you. They will have your phone number on them, that canât get lost. Tell them to go to another parent or Marshall for help calling you.
Enjoy the shows, have a great time and stay together.
And thanks to my silly friends for recording this video.

When Grandpa parked the car he found this awesome long slide!!
Payers Park, Folkestone, CT20 1EZ.
It was just off the Creative Quarter, the kids had a blast!
I love design like this that takes advantage of the natural landscape. Itâs a shame there was only one slide. I think races with a second and third slide, or a curvy slide down would have made it even better!

Daddy took the children to Tate Modern in London yesterday. This enchanting installation, by Anicka Yi, in the large Turbine Hall really captured their imagination and the children enjoyed laying on the floor watching them float and swim through the air.
Tate Modern has great accessibility, cafes and toilets. Itâs FREE to enter but you do need to book a ticket as they are running timed entry slots.

A bit hard to see against the dark clouds, but the kites from Kent Kite Flyers are looking awesome at the Wild about Capstone Festival this after noon.

The grasshoppers and crickets are in fine chorus across Great Lines Heritage Park this morning. The number of moths, butterflies and other insects in these meadows is astounding! You only need to step off the path and hundreds of grasshoppers leap towards the longer grass. Itâs was great to see some Marbled Whites, but they were too energetic to photograph.

Half term Inspiration
A few years ago I took my Nan to the Italianate Glasshouse next to King George VI Memorial Park, Ramsgate. It was beautiful and quite something to see. The glasshouse is set in a beautiful little garden next to one of the entrances to the larger park. Inside there is a lovely collection of plants, small shop and cafe.
The King George Memorial Park has a good sized play area, lots of open green spaces to play and picnic in, and some great views over the sea and Ramsgate. There are public toilets and a cafe in the park. Most of the paths through the park are unmade or gravel. There is one wide surfaces path that runs through the park, which is part of the Viking Coastal Trail.

Reminiscing today, back in 2018 we spent a very drizzly couple of hours walking around @ranscombe_farm in #cuxton. We looked out over the meadows to the Medway Bridges, walked alongside the high speed railway line as trains rocketed past, found brambles, elderberries, fungi and a tree stump that looked like a dinosaur! Even on that drizzly day it was beautiful, lush, green and teaming with nature. We ate our picnic in the car that day, but with the warm weather weâre having at the moment you could sit in the meadows and watch the world go by. Then hike through the cool woods to Cobham Mausoleum and see the highland cows.
.
We parked in the small car park off Sundridge Hill, but there is also access from Razorbill Close, near Bligh Way Park. There are no facilities here and the paths are narrow, unmade and unsuitable for pushchairs. My smallest was only 18 months old when we did this walk and I took our sling for when she got tired.
.
@ranscombe_farm has a brilliant website with downloadable maps and nature trails for the kids, itâs well worth googling it.
