Struggling to make ends meet and with no real direction I began to wonder what my life had become. I had dreams and plans and I refused to be defined by my situation…...I was not just a government statistic. I knew I was destined for greatness. I knew deep in my soul my life would not always be spent scrimping and saving, nor would I spend my life struggling. I wanted the best for my daughter and
I. I flitted from job to job, working part time in crappy jobs, call centres, retail, sales to name a few. I had fun with my friends but still the nagging doubt I was destined for better things would not go away. In 2008 my world was turned upside down. My daughter and I were made homeless. Left with no other choice we moved into a hostel. We lived in the hostel for seven months. It was a pressure cooker situation. It was a tough situation and I mean really tough. My daughter and I shared a bunk bed and I will never forget the shape of the springs and the plastic sheeting as I prayed to God every night that we would be allocated a house and things would work out. In my heart I knew they would. What I also knew to be true was that NOBODY was going to do any of that for me. How could they? How could they know the song in my heart and sing it back to me…. So I got busy! I got proactive. I upped my game. I woke up every single morning with PURPOSE and INTENTION. I knew exactly what I wanted I knew what the house looked like and how it was going to be decorated. I knew it was possible for me. I researched all I could about Housing Law, local MP’s and I even wrote to the Prime Minister. We eventually moved into our own home after a period of seven months. That feeling….we moved on my thirtieth birthday. That feeling was one I will never forget. Upon moving my allocated support worker told me she believed in me….how powerful is that statement ‘I BELIEVE IN YOU’
Just hearing those four words ignites and stirs something in all of us….it doesn’t matter who you are. ‘I BELIEVE IN YOU’ contains so much power and should be acted upon. My support worker told me I should work with people in a similar situation to the one I had left…..that I COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE…..let's rewind back to 2001 and that feeling that gnawing feeling that my life was destined to be great resurfaced so I did...I decided I wanted to help people in the situation I had just left, and that's exactly what I did! I started by volunteering, I immersed myself in every single training available, I created the life I knew I deserved. I loved every second of it. The nights I had laid in that bunk bed holding back tears and throwing my very own pity party questioning ‘why me!?’ became clear…..without that life experience, an experience that could never have been taught in a classroom or read about in a textbook I would never have experienced the level of empathy toward others. The first time I was told by a person I was working with ‘Thank you for believing in me’ I remembered how important it is to provide support and to believe and embrace the positive in any situation and instead of moaning about the problem to spend that energy working on the solution. In life so many people complain and are filled with bitterness and rage and believe life owes them something. I am here to tell you…..LIFE OWES YOU NOTHING, COMPLAINING AND BLAMING GETS YOU NOWHERE, NOBODY BUT YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE…..but first you need to change your MINDSET! Having the life you want is in your reach...you have to believe it...workhard, work harder than anyone else you know….when they are sleeping you are working...when they are partying...you are working….when they are on holiday….you are working…..when they are watching TV or playing computers, wasting time on facebook and other social media…..you guessed it, you are WORKING! If the only piece of advice you leave here today with…..is this. YOU ARE THE STAR ATTRACTION OF YOUR LIFE, YOU ARE THE LEADING ROLE, YOU HAVE THE FINAL SAY, YOU DETERMINE YOUR OWN DESTINY. Life is not about luck, it's about CHOICES it's about how hard YOU are prepared to go, what YOU are ready to sacrifice and how hard YOU are going to work. The law of INTENTION is clear, once you decide what it is you actually want and you pursue it with INTENTION, you want it more than you want to breath and your actions are aligned only then will you succeed. Don’t be the person who gives up when things get tough...fight and never stop fighting. You are meant to live an abundant life….you are meant to succeed. You might not have all the answers now...but somebody has achieved the things you wish to achieve. Find that person and model yourself on them...follow their example and when you achieve what you set out to achieve LEAD BY EXAMPLE! I would love to help and support you on your personal journey providing you with the tools you need to succeed. Please contact me for a personalised quotation.
