Wise Monkey Photos offering photography and video of pregnancy, birth, newborns, babies, children, and families

I bring years of experience in documentary photography and video to the wonderful world of birth, infancy, child, and family portraiture.

Wise Monkey Photos is my latest endeavor, inspired by my own experience with the natural home birth of my first child. Without planing it, I happened to have my professional camera right near my bed, when it normally sits safely high up on a shelf. Just moments after my son was born, while still lying in bed, I spontaneously started photographing the final stages of my own delivery. I captured the first moments of life for my child, him opening his eyes for the first time, his cord being cut, him being weighed, the midwife and doula running around my bedroom tending to him, and of course my glowing husband. Since then I have not stopped, my little monkey has become my favorite muse and I have expanded to photograph other peoples babies, toddlers, and families. Soon I hope to also have the opportunity to photograph someone else's labor and the precious fleeting few moments directly afterwards when parents meet their child together for the first time. I bring years of experience in documentary photography and video to the wonderful world of birth, infancy, child photography, and family portraiture.
