Malmesbury is pulling out all the stops for a summer of history, have you seen the amazing banners flying proudly throughout the town?
Coming up this weekend a great appetizer for Athelstan 1100 from Malmesbury Film Society. The Dig (2021) is acclaimed film that re-imagines the excitement of the excavation in the summer of 1939 of the Great Ship Burial at Sutton Hoo. This amazing find on the estate of Edith Pretty gripped a nation and remains an unparalleled find to this day. The excavation on the eve of the war and the extraordinary finds bring to life the world of early Anglo-Saxon Kings.
