What a heli experience in the Canadian Rockies is like. Feel deeply, be joyful, exhilarated and grateful! Skiing in winter or hiking the other seasons. They call it a Bucket List for a reason! Call me :)

Get off the beaten path! St. Eustatius is a small Dutch Caribbean island located in the north eastern Caribbean Sea. It lies on the northern part of the Lesser Antilles. St. Eustatius measures 11.8 square miles (approx. 21 square kilometers) and has a population of approximately 3,200 people. It is located southeast of Saba and northwest of St. Kitts.

This historic gem, has an impressive culinary scene with appetizing Caribbean Dishes as well as Traditional Dutch entrees.

So many people dream of experiencing an amazing Northern Lights show. For those, you do need to head north to be under the Aurora Oval - and it is cold. But you can rent gear so you don't have to buy and pay for extra baggage on your flights if you don't want to. Churchill Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, Iceland, Norway, Finland these are some of your best viewing options. There are land based unique resorts, special gourmet foodie experiences out in tundra buggies, soft adventure tours with snow machines, dog sledding, skijoring. You can sleep in a clear dome so you can take in the full show from the comfort of your warm bed and of course some great expedition cruises. The options are as endless as our imaginations.

When we talk about the Antarctic season - you have to remember south of the Equator it is their summer time. So there were days we were landing on the Antarctic Peninsula to walk amongst the Penguins, explore historic landmarks, see geological things, learn about that amazing continent and be where so few people will ever set foot. It was warmer there than it was at home in Toronto. Yes, you are kitted out in an awesome windproof, waterproof , warmmmmm Expedition Parka (that you get to keep) but I was peeling layers off and putting them in my backpack as we walked in the brilliant sunshine. There were days also I was wearing my ski goggles so I could see the icebergs, penguins, leopard seals, whales, chunks of glacial ice that is centuries old on our Zodiac safaris in the blowing snow.

In the old days, working at old British establishment of Thomas Cook store front Travel Agency down at Bay & Bloor, the 1st day after Labour day meant it was all hands on deck, all staff were in to answer the onslaught of phone calls of people planning their winter holidays. That has changed over time and people are planning a year or more in advance to ensure they are able to get what they want not having to choose through what is left.
Yes, people are planning warm winter getaways still. More are inquiring about winter cold weather getaways too.

Yesterday it was such a honour and privilege to serve my Travel Industry community participating on a Panel Discussion at the ACTA 2024 Eastern Canada Travel Industry Summit about Luxury Travel. Alongside 4 colleagues in this industry, all very successful, knowledgeable and willing to share best practices, knowledge, wisdom and experience.
