Have you seen the surreal sight of hundreds of teddy bear cacti gleaming softly in the sunlight at Joshua Tree's Cholla Cactus Garden? While they may look fuzzy from a distance, these plants are most assuredly not related to teddy bears: their furry appearance comes from the thicket of spines that cover the stems. Beware - though they are pretty to look at, you really don't want to touch them, especially accidentally.
"Using GuideAlong is the best way to get info while traveling through the NPS parks! Be sure to purchase and download prior to entering the park, service is scarce in most of it!"

📢 How to see Firefall in 2024 in Yosemite National Park.
Every year in late February thousands of visitors come to see a natural "firefall" at Horsetail Fall, where the waterfall glows orange when it's backlit by the sunset. If you're lucky enough to be here on a clear night and the waterfall is flowing, the falls appear to be set ablaze.
Due to its popularity, in 2024 day-use reservations are required to enter Yosemite National Park on February 10–11, February 17–19 and February 24-25. No reservations are required to enter the park on other dates in February, and visitors with in-park lodging, camping or vacation rental reservations don't need a day-use reservation.
If you don't already have a reservation, log in to recreation.gov at 8am two days prior to your desired date for a chance at the remaining 50% of day-use reservations.
