Arkansas, the steak is here and the county challenge was a success.

For those who missed it, a few days ago I posted about a wager between my wife and I.

If I was able to get comments from at least one person in all 75 Arkansas counties, she would buy me a StoneHouse at Chaffee Crossing tomahawk steak.

11,000+ comments later and you guys rocked this challenge.

While this is all just for fun, I love engaging with you. This is a weather page, but I’m blessed with the best following.

The weather at my house is AMAZING tonight. Much needed relief.

Cloudy, 80 degree temps and very low humidity.

Unfortunately not all of Arkansas is observing the low humidity.

Some of us are still dealing with dew points in the mid 70’s, which is oppressive during the summer season.

Luckily we should all get some relief by tomorrow.

NASA is describing this star explosion as a once in a lifetime event… 💫

The event is known as a “nova”. It happens when changes to a star cause it release energy and it becomes very bright.

The impending nova event could be incredible!

Astronomers expect this to occur no later than September, but the exact timing is unknown.

The star referenced here is about 3,000 light years from earth.

It is believed that when the explosion occurs, it will be so bright we should be able to see the results without special equipment (including telescopes).

When it does occur, we should have several days to view the event before it begins to dim.

If you’re a space nerd like me, this is exciting stuff. I’ll be sure to update on the latest.

Update on snow chances for the week

🚴We know our riders are anxious to get out and ride the Benton Bike Park but please be patient!

The Mt. Bike Park is still closed due to repairs from the previous rains!

The grand opening will be June 13th at 10am! We look forward to seeing you there!

To be fair this is normal occasionally at Lake Catherine. Unfortunately it's the last level of runoff from several lakes and the Hotsprings Community.. but the park offers so much more than swimming.

Buffalo Point has suffered the loss of all amenities, including electricity, water, and sewer, in the campground and Ranger Station after storm and tornado damage in the area during the early hours of Sunday, May 26th. It is currently unknown when these amenities will be repaired.

Updates will be available by calling (870) 439-2502 as the situation develops.

We thank you and appreciate your patience as we work to restore these systems.
