It’s been a long time since I posted anything. Mainly because I’ve been to busy all summer to fish. June and July were spent remodeling our cabin in Northern WI, August and September were spent preparing for Bear hunting. I ran over to the Mississippi with my buddy Gooch for some perch fishing in mid September, that was a fun trip. The last week and a half I actually got out on Winnebago and did some walleye fishing. The bite was pretty good with decent catches every day. I even decided to guide a couple days when one of my regular customers said he had some free time. I’m not guiding any more this year because it’s time to start deer hunting. If you want to fish Winnebago on your own I’d concentrate on less than 8’ of water on reef edges, and don’t be afraid to go as shallow as 3-4’. Lots of fish on the rocks right now.

It’s been a great week of fishing. Just about everything has been working. The only negative was fishing solo a couple days and getting hooked to a 18” walleye for a few minutes. A quick trip to the ER and then back on the water to get some revenge.

It’s been a very busy week. Had my last white bass trip of the year, had my retirement party after 33 year of service with NEENAH MENASHA FIRE RESCUE, bought my wife a new car, my son graduated from UWO, and pounded the snot out of the walleyes today.

Never a dull moment with these two dorks.

Walleye fishing on the Winnebago system is in full swing. The last several days have been spent from Oshkosh to New London. We have caught and released a bunch of nice fish as well as keeping some for ourselves. Several different methods are working well. Pulling flys, dragging jigs and crawlers, and even using some minnows occasionally.
I have the following dates open in April and May.
April:24,25,29
May 3,13,14,15,20,21,23,24,29,30,31
If you are interested in booking a date, give me a call at +19208106715

One Helluva Week. Thanks to everyone that spent some time in my boat.

A handful of Green Bay fish from the last couple years. With the current weather patterns we have, it’s very likely we will be targeting these fish very soon. Ice is blowing off Green Bay as I type this. Here’s a list of the dates I have available.
March 4,5,6,7,8,11,12,13,14,15,18,19,20
April 18,19,22,24,25,29,30
I’ve got a hand full of dates available in May on the Winnebago system for walleye and white bass and June has a lot of days open for Winnebago walleye.

North Dakota didn’t disappoint. I don’t think I will feel like eating fish for a while.

Nice fish. (F Bombs are used)

Getting a little crowded out here. These guys were actually pretty good dudes. We got talking to them and they gave us some perch info that we may check out.

If you haven’t fished in the North Dakota wind, you have no idea. Best $1.75 we have ever spent.

Using a E Bike for ice fishing is way better than dragging a shack through the snow. Even though it’s only 3 inches in most spots, it still sucks. This particular lake is back in the woods a ways and several steep hills that have to be climbed. I was pretty happy with how this worked out. It’s no ATV, but it will do when we have thin ice and little snow.

Merry Christmas to all of you. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season with family and friends. It’s getting to be time to start planning open water fishing trips. People are starting to book dates already. The 2024 season is going to have a couple changes. I’m only going to be guiding in April, May, and June. (Possibly Some days in February/March depending on the weather) I am going to be retiring from the Fire Department in January of 2024 so I will have more days available to fish. The last couple years the month of May has booked up quickly, so if you are looking for a day in May you might want to start planning ahead.
March and April are spent fishing rivers and the Bay of Green Bay. These trips almost always involve some form of jig fishing and can produce high numbers of fish as well as some trophies.
May is usually the best time to target white bass. It’s also the best month to do a combination trip to target both walleyes and white bass.
June is exclusively walleye fishing. Most of the fish have migrated from the rivers back to lake Winnebago. Jigging, trolling, slip bobbers, and casting crank baits all come into play this time of year. June of 23 was fantastic with quick limits on almost every trip.
I look forward to fishing with all of you again and good luck ice fishing if it ever gets cold.
