Well that’s a wrap for travel in 2024! I’ve had an amazing year both booking travel and taking some amazing adventures myself!

From a Mocktail Competition in Toronto in January to the Travel Week in Las Vegas to some amazing beaches in the Caribbean complete with delicious alcohol free beverages; my wanderlust has been satiated- for now😉

☀️Thinking all islands are the same?

Every island is unique, and just because you've seen one doesn't mean you've seen them all and there's nothing left to explore.

🏨 Staying at only big all-inclusive hotels
Bigger and more well-known hotel chains are only the start. There are so many great, lesser-known properties, boutique hotels, and villas. But don't rule out the AI properties. Club Med AIs are packed with activities like daily fitness classes and snorkeling and delicious zero proof cocktails.

🏖️ Not exploring beyond the resort
You're missing out on so many great cultural experiences, delicious local food, and the opportunity to try new things if you're only sticking to the resort. There are lots of ways to explore — self-guided tours, group tours and private tours and experiences. Check out a local restaurant such as Door No.4 in the Caymans who just recently upgraded their food and beverage menu - new delicious NA beverages included!

🗓️ Only visiting in high season
Just because a certain period is a "good" time to visit a place doesn't always mean it's the "best" time for you. You can't go wrong visiting the Caribbean in high season (January to May). But the off-season, such as the shoulder season when summer ends, means better offers and less crowds.

❌ Not understanding the local nuances
Not every Caribbean island has the same currency, not all islands have English as their first language, and depending on where you're visiting, you may have more or less access to things like ATMs, banks, etc. You want to do your research (Or ask your travel advisor!) to make sure you're prepared.

T’is the season to give! And if you’re thinking about gifting travel this Holiday season…

First of all, your giftee is lucky to have you in their life.

And second of all, here are a few tips for a perfectly executed gifted trip:

🎁 If possible, to keep things open-ended. Unless you’re 100% sure someone can depart on the exact dates you decide, it’s worthwhile keeping things flexible, just in case.

🎁 You may want to forgo pre-booking something. Instead, gift a token that represents the trip, like a map, brochure, or travel-related items, and then allow the person you’re gifting to plan the trip with a trusted travel advisor.

🎁 Sometimes it’s not the trip. It’s the journey. You may want to make the person you’re gifting a part of the travel planning process and give them VIP treatment by having an advisor who can curate and do the heavy lifting of booking the travel once they decide where they’d like to go.

How Hotels and Resorts Benefit When They Include Zero Free Offerings… Let’s face it. It’s not the food and beverage bill where hotels make their biggest profits; it’s the cost of the rooms themselves. But what some properties don’t understand is that by offering a few custom, curated zero free beverages and a few decent NA wines that they invite a whole new demographic to the table: the sober, sober-curious, and a variety of other non drinkers. As a travel advisor who specializes in alcohol free travel - and an avid traveler myself - I look for the properties who focus on quality in their food and beverage selection. Do I not book clients at properties if they don’t offer these locations? If I find a resort with the same quality accommodations AND zero free beverages, then I book the latter. As I’ve said in the past, the luxury brands get it; they hire mixologists to curate their beverage menu which adds more value and choice for their patrons, but the smaller properties who don’t have the budget for a mixologist can still add quality NA beverages to their menus by simply having bar staff that know how to craft a cocktail. Where is Chrissy Today? LLC

Writing is an important part of my life. That’s why I entered the field of education where I taught English Literature, Creative Writing and Public Speaking for over a decade as a way to educate others about the power of the written word.

Eventually, I earned my second Masters’ Degree and assumed the role of School Librarian for the Harpursville School District. During this time I also owned my own travel business where I created and managed trips for almost fifteen years. I also created content for my social media channels as a way to promote my business.

When the COVID-19 pandemic occurred and travel seized, I began to travel the island of Aruba with my Bitmoji, which garnered the attention of Ishwar Daryanani, the director of the Aruba Tourist Channel. I soon joined his team as a Social Media Content Creator and Manager where I would create social media content, conduct and write interviews, and build followers and engagement for their Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts. It was then that I decided I would like to focus on my own part of the world, the Southern Tier of New York.

I have since obtained my LLC, and plan to offer my services as a content creator and manager for area businesses to help them grow their business and to illustrate all that social media has to offer as a business tool.
