We’re about to begin Rosh Hashanah. A time of year
that’s meant to feel both joyful, yet reflective.

But how can we not recoil when we think of what we’ve been through and the challenges ahead? The devastating losses, the hate we’ve faced for daring to exist and defend ourselves, the betrayals by government, colleagues and friends who we thought shared our values…

But as I take stock, I also know that I don’t want my Judaism to be defined by hate. I want my Jewishness to be a source of joy and light. I want to hold strong to the traditions I love, and celebrate belonging to an incredible tribe of people that has survived and thrived against all odds.

May this year, however uncertain it feels, be filled with only better things. With strength and resilience, love, health and hope. With our hostages coming home and with PEACE.

Holding the Goldberg-Polin and hostage families in our hearts with this devastating news. This cruel ending is a deep blow to all of us who were hoping and praying for loving families to be reunited after months of anguish. Am Yisrael is mourning together with you 💔

As much as we love to cook, sometimes a special occasion calls for outsourcing to a professional. Earlier this month, came over and made the most delicious Italian feast for our dad’s birthday. Every bite was beyond and I’m still dreaming of that carbonara 🍝

Look at my delicious open faced bagel! Now while I have your attention, your Jewish friends are terrified right now. Shooting at schools isn’t normal. Being ostracized from campus isn’t normal. Destroying synagogues isn’t normal.
Antisemitism is alive and well in Canada and we cannot fight it alone. Please speak up and let your elected officials know that this is not your Canada.

Haven’t done an “about me” post in ages so here are 5 fast facts, ✡️ edition:

👩🏻‍🍳 I live to eat and the kitchen is my happy place. Feeding the people I love brings me so much joy. Hosting a Passover seder, Rosh Hashanah meal or Shabbat dinner is my jam and I love sharing my traditional recipes with you.

👩🏻‍💻I have moved through different industries over the years, but really take pride in my work in the community. It gives me incredible purpose and telling stories on is such a perfect fit.

🇵🇱🇭🇺🇨🇦 I am Ashkenazi. My paternal grandparents were Polish and my maternal grandparents were Hungarian. They each met here in Canada and my parents were both born in Toronto.

📚 I am not observant at all (don’t keep kosher, don’t observe Shabbat etc.) but have increasingly become more interested in reading about Jewish history and spirituality over the past couple of years. Two books on my nightstand are “A Letter in the Scroll” by Rabbi Jonathan Sacks z”l and “People Love Dead Jews” by Dara Horn.

🇮🇱 I haven’t been to Israel in over 10 years!!! Really hoping to change that in 2024 along with another big bucket list experience that I hope works out… (stay tuned)

🗣️I learned Hebrew and Yiddish growing up but forget most of both unfortunately. I would really love to regain my Hebrew skills as I can barely help my boys with their homework now.

For our family members who survived and lived on, and for those who we never had the chance to meet - we will never stop telling your stories. We will not be silent as the world once again looks the other way as Jews are dehumanized. Never again is happening before our very eyes and we must learn from the lessons of history to stop this cycle of hate.
