Layout.

When we’re on a highly detailed project, we find it advantageous to lay out the entire reflected ceiling plan on the floor before we start. This helps us to foresee issues with fitting recessed fixtures where they’re supposed to go, helps us avoid running wiring through our own fixture location areas, and in general find any issues with construction drawings VS on site build out. It also gives us an easy way to hang recessed cans and fixture boxes once wiring is run. We just set the lazer plumb point up on the marks on the floor. No trying to use the tape measure alone 12’ from a measuring point in the ceiling. A great way to increase accuracy and productivity.

Our good friends at Friends And Neighbors Gardening knocked out these two amazing new flower beds at my house today. Filled with native plantings and a mix of other species that will promote birds, bugs, bees, and butterflies, and I are super excited to see them fill in and mature next summer! Got a fun opportunity to have my son ride along with us for a few days this week, since school hasn’t started yet and his summer job finished up. Probably not the funnest thing ever from his perspective. It was super cool for me though. Spending time hearing about his goings on, watching him work, interact with the other guys on the crews, and seeing what his work ethic and habits are like (all excellent, especially for a 15 year old) was amazing.

One of the many projects we’ve been on lately, this art studio for Neill Brothers Construction features some really interesting design grade lighting choices from and . The wing rail LED hanging track and these square trimless recessed definitely add some pop. Great work to everyone involved in making these lighting choices come to life!

This was an interesting one to say the least!

Electrical cleanup in a large historical remodel is challenging to say the least. Our friends at were challenged with the aftermath of several generations of remodels in this 1911 basement, and as always, they delivered! The before was almost as scary as former bat residents! 🦇

One of the hardest working young people I’ve ever met, and just an all around awesome person who’s now looking forward a great career!

Great way to start a Friday! It’s always fun to hang the last couple of fixtures right before the client moves in and get to walk around a cleaned out house that you’ve been working in for a year and a half. The satisfaction of completing a well executed custom project is amazing!!

After waiting a looong 7 months to get the meter socket for this large custom home, it feels amazing to have the service complete, inspected, and circuits tied in and ready for power.

In photo two, one of the main panels is on the left, and the panel to the right is a sub for future generator circuits. We ran the SER between the two and left extra space between panels in a manner that hopefully helps install their transfer equipment later on. The other main panel is located in the basement and is ready for power, but to be honest isn’t photo worthy yet.

What the hell??

For the last two weeks, I’ve been getting my balls busted in the comments section of a reel that I put up that has gone somewhat viral. The gist of the comments are that we spent too much time on neatness.

This is a photo that one of my guys sent me of something that needs attention at a large scale basement remodel that we’re involved in at local historic home. Someone at some point actually got paid to do this to a multi million dollar ocean front property. I can spot at least four code violations just in this one photo, never mind what’s going on inside the house, further away underground, or wherever else this terminates.
