Rachel’s Star Lighting will be SUNDAY, DEC. 1 The star will be lit at dusk . This event links Dalton Utilities and Hamilton House history. Julia and Will Lumpkin, grandchildren of Dr Bill and Susan Lumpkin, and niece and nephew of Liz Lumpkin, will be lightening the star. Their parents are David Lee and Caroline Lumpkin. They are direct descendants of the late Carlton McCamy who created the star in 1935. His daughter, Betty McCamy Lumpkin is the children’s great Grandmother.
The Hamilton House will be decorated and open from 2 to 5 for free tours.
While the star can not be seen from the Hamilton House, it can be seen from the Crown Garden and Archives, next door. So please join us there for hot chocolate and Mt Rachel Baptist Church Children’s Choir singing at 5:30!

The Scenic City Mud Run returns to Chattanooga on September 7, 2019.

This will take place at Greenway Farms in Hixson, TN. Get ready for an obstacle-course race with LOTS of mud, plus constructed and natural obstacles. Competitive, Fun Run, Youth and Special Needs Youth Races. For more information, visit www.sceniccitymudrun.com

Movies in the Park returns to Coolidge Park each Saturday in the month of July beginning July 6.

Our neighbor Harley LOVES Mercier Apples! Harley is a 9-year-old former laboratory research chimpanzee who is now permanently retired at the sanctuary near Blue Ridge, GA. We’re happy to donate bruised apples to the chimps because they’re not very picky as long as they taste great! Project Chimps is occasionally open to the public. AUGUST 5, 10 AM. Mt. Rachel Baptist Church in Dalton will host a back to school community event for children in need. School supplies, free haircuts, consultation with a dental hygienist and lunch are all part of the day. The event is open to children 12 and under who's family cannot purchase school supplies due to financial means. (I did check just to make sure and this is available for Murray County children as well!) For more information, please see the flyer for contact information.
