In 2005 while working full time in the energy industry and attending graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin, Herb Chambers IV approached his brother Grant Chambers with an idea. The energy industry was beginning to see a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience leave the work force. Leveraging his experience and contacts in the energy industry and relying on his brother’s abilit
y to develop successful Internet businesses, together they launched FutureGenEnergy.com which was the first social networking site dedicated to the energy industry. After years of refining, incubating, and growing this social network they launched EnergyLeader.com as the successor to FutureGenEnergy.com. EnergyLeader.com is a social networking and broadcast platform for the global energy industry that together with its partners is changing the way the world connects with the energy industry. EnergyLeader.com sets itself apart from its competition several ways. First, we focus on students who have an interest in the energy industry. We provide networking opportunities on campus, through Energy Leader members who are willing to mentor students, and by offering live networking events such as our annual networking events that raise funds to create scholarship opportunities for deserving students. Second, we have a history of networking in person and most notably by supporting organizations such as the MS Society through our bike teams, which have raised a significant amount of money to support organizations such as the MS Society. And third, we are focused on the entire energy industry and we welcome students, skilled workers, and professionals equally. Our original goal of connecting academia with the energy industry will always be a central focus for EnergyLeader.com. We’re committed to changing the way the energy industry connects and how its perceived by the rest of the world.
