personal story to share ... long read, but you might like it ;)
when I was born I had a disease and it was not clear if I would ever be able to talk. After several operations, with the help of supporting and loving parents and a long fight, I was able to speak, but I was the shyest girl on earth. I remember how difficult it was for me to speak to someone.
This changed within the years fortunately because self-confidence grew with getting older, but still as a grown-up I struggle with talking in front of people. Several months ago I took myself on a challenge to fight the discomfort that I have when people are looking at me. I work on myself, every day ...
Today I found myself singing with a guy who played the guitar in a surfshop in Bali and it felt like the most natural thing to do! :) ... And yes, I was sober, not drunk and not hangovered ;))
Now that I`m back home I realize that a few months ago I would never ever have done this, I would have been too embarrased to sing in the public. ... Sure there is still some way to go to be were I want to be, but hey, let`s celebrate the small steps as well :) ....
The reason why I share this very personal story with you, is because I want to tell you that change can happen!! It does not happen over night, especially regarding personal evolvement. It happens slowly, you might not even recognize it. But one day you will find yourself singing along with strangers and suddenly realize how far you have come already :)) - and that`s awesome!
Here is the proof ... first I thought to cut the video an just show you the better parts, but you know what: it`s all part of the learning curve - we struggle with text, we laugh, we sing in the wrong tones, the TV in the background is freaking loud, but you get the message ;) ...
