A rare opportunity to hop on the Imberbus to visit Wiltshire's lost village of Imber will go ahead on August 20, despite possible rail strikes, affecting travel to the boarding point. Visiting the village is an eerie and powerful experience, but open days are limited to 18 or 20 days out of the year, as the land now operates as part of the UK's largest military training ground.
Imberbus 2022 will be held on Saturday, August 20, marking the day when up to 25 old and new Routemaster buses (plus a few guest vehicles) will operate from Warminster to Imber and other points on Salisbury Plain.
This year, access to Imber will again only possible using the Imberbuses themselves. Cars, motorbikes, cycles, scooters or pedestrians will not be permitted access to the military roads on this date, so if you would prefer to drive your own vehicle to Imber you will need to delay your trip until another occasion (for further details of other dates when the road through Imber is open, visit the Imber Church website).
