As the founder of Framestore's animation department, Mike Milne played a huge part in our growth and success. A key member of the team who brought Walking With Dinosaurs to life, his insight, enthusiasm and creativity helped put the UK's VFX industry on the map.

Mike sadly passed away earlier this year. In this piece for the Guardian, our chairman and co-founder, Sir William Sargent, warmly remembers his friend and former colleague's extraordinary life and achievements.

Gladiator II First Trailer is Out!

Our team stepped into the arena to create ferocious creatures and epic FX for the long-awaited sequel to Ridley Scott's legendary Gladiator. Our VFX work was led by VFX Supervisor Christian Kaestner and VFX Producer Jeanne Elise Prevost, while Framestore Pre-production Services' postviz was led by Postvis Supervisor Darrin Hofmeyr.

It's LGBTQ+ Pride Month, and we'll be participating in the London Pride Parade once again this year.

We all know that shaping and sustaining an inclusive place to work is a collective responsibility and that every single person has a role to play in making Framestore the kind of company where everyone feels valued, heard, and included.

To nurture an inclusive workplace, our outreach efforts are centred around engaging school students from underrepresented backgrounds. We have designed programs to help emerging talent transition into their first job in VFX, and have formed Positive Action Networks of volunteers in all of our studios who plan equality, diversity, and inclusion events and training for all employees.

Staying true to the explosive action of the Bad Boys franchise, the seaplane crash scene in Bad Boys 4: Ride or Die demanded meticulous attention to detail to deliver its full, heart-stopping impact. Our incredible team, led by VFX Supervisor Dom Hellier, pulled out all the stops to bring this spectacular sequence to life.

Using three sets of scans from the client as reference points, the team built the seaplane, starting with a clean variant and then progressing through various stages of damage. The seaplane ultimately had five variants: default (clean), tail damage, wing damage, in-between damage, and aftermath damage.
