If you are looking for an amazing restaurant in Loreto, one of my favorite meals was at Raiz inside the Hotel Posada de las Flores. The meal was exceptional and the drinks pairings were perfect (who knew Indio did an artisenal beer?!). My personal favorite was the main course, a sea bass stuffed with shrimp and served with a caper sauce. YUM.

Loreto is truly an outdoor adventure-lovers paradise. Hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling or diving, nevermind the abundance of wildlife like whales, dolphins, huge schools of fish, and five islands to explore! I've been twice already and I'm plotting a return to explore even more. It has everything that I love about Baja.

Trying to branch out from my usual order while I'm in Mexico, which tends to just be a bottle of Pacifico. This one caught my eye, a hibiscus margarita! It wasn't too sweet, the chili-rimmed glass added a nice tang, and the tequila flavor still came through. What's your go-to drink in Mexico?

Kayaking in Loreto was one of my favorite activities on this trip (although kayaking back to shore was a STRUGGLE against the current!). While we were out here we were surrounded by mountains everywhere we looked. We spotted jumping manta rays, a pod of dolphins, and a few Osprey hanging out in the trees (maybe they were escaping Seattle winter like me! haha). The natural beauty of Baja California Sur never ceases to amaze me ☺️

Isla Coronados is an insanely beautiful island about 30 minutes away from Loreto by boat. The sand is almost blindingly white and the turquoise water looks even better as you hike up to the highest point on the island. You can snorkel right from shore and see some of the marine life that call these waters home.

Just as our boat was coming back into the Loreto Marina after a trip to nearby Isla Coronados, this pelican decided to hitch a ride! Much to his dismay we didn’t have any fish for him 😂

Don’t mind if I do! Raw oysters are one of my favorite seafood dishes and we enjoyed them in abundance in Loreto alongside baked clams, baked oysters, and grilled oysters! 🦪 Do you like oysters?

One of the highlights of my stay at ranchocacachilas was the food. So much of the produce is grown right here on the ranch. The beef and pork comes from the ranch. They make their own bread, bacon, sausage, cheese, and salad dressing among so many other things. Which dish looks like your favorite?
