BREAKING FREE!
Traveller; Escapist, Vagabond, Explorer, Wanderer, Nomadic! - There are not enough words to describe Shashank Pandey ; the guy who has travelled 7000 kilometres on his bike in only 23 days!
And how?
With - one set of clothes, a camera, a pair of shoes, no plans or deadlines, not even GPS..ha!
Only an urge to break free from mundane routine, the set benchmarks of society and the never ending pressure of examinations.
He was sure if he travelled far enough, he'd discover himself...and that was all it took, a heart's craving for a regular law student to set off from Ahmedabad on an unplanned journey to Udaipur at 3 A.M. on June 1, from where it was sheer determination that made him go on, overcome his fears and face whatever lay ahead-
And the result?
More than 10 cities covered!
From Udaipur to Ajmer and then a stretch from Delhi-Chandigarh-Manali-Macleodganj-Kasol-Koksur-Sarchu-Pang to Leh..
"I have been riding for 10 days now.. When i left i had no idea where i was headed to..You may call it destiny but tonight i am striking off a road trip to Ladakh from my bucket list- And it's a cherry on cake that i'll do so on my own bike" - Shashank on reaching Ladakh
He had no funds to fetch gear and wear that would safeguard him against sudden altitude changes, nature's uncertain fury or extreme temperatures.
"It was'nt easy" - says Shashank "To manage with the same pair of clothes for 23 days; I had a fall near Sarchu and my clothes and shoes got torn.. I was literally freezing"
After indulging in the serenity of Ladakh, there was no turning back! Wanderbug-bitten Shashank went from Delhi-Agra-Bhopal-Nagpur-Hyderabad-Bangalore.
Presently, he's reached Kanyakumari- the southernmost tip of our mainland!
But, no he does'nt intend to stop.. Afterall it does feel amazing to be lost in the right direction..
He does not know where he's going but he's on his way!
He's captured the spirit of travolo- Just pack your bags and get lost!
