National manifestation on Monday, January 13
Belgian trade unions plan a manifestation on Monday, January 13. This manifestation is expected to have an impact on handling companies at . The airport authorities have asked Brussels Airlines to a significant number of flights.

What is the situation?

Due to a national manifestation on Monday 13 January and the announced strike of a large number of staff of the handlers and security, Brussels Airport expects a major impact on airport operations on that day.

What does this mean for my flight?

Given the expected high impact at the handlers and security, a large number of flights will have to be cancelled or rescheduled. Passengers of affected flights will be informed by their airline or (online) travel agency.

Με ισχύ από τις 26 Ιουνίου 2024 (ημερομηνία έκδοσης του εισιτηρίου), οι αεροπορικές εταιρείες του Lufthansa Group καθιερώνουν ένα νέο τέλος για όλες τις πτήσεις που αναχωρούν από οποιαδήποτε χώρα της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης, τη Μεγάλη Βρετανία, τη Νορβηγία και την Ελβετία την/μετά την 1η Ιανουαρίου 2025.

Το Πρόσθετο Περιβαλλοντικό Τέλος ή αλλιώς Environmental Cost Surcharge θα επιβάλλεται:

• σε κάθε πτήση των Austrian Airlines / Brussels Airlines / Eurowings / Lufthansa / SWISS / Air Dolomiti / Discover Airlines / Edelweiss / Lufthansa City Airlines / Lufthansa CityLine (που εκτελείται και διατίθεται από τις OS/SN/EW/LH/LX/EN/WK/4Y/VL/CL ή από εταίρους wet-lease)

Το τέλος αυτό καλύπτει το πρόσθετο κόστος που προέρχεται από νομοθετικές περιβαλλοντικές ρυθμίσεις, όπως την εντολή της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης αναφορικά με τα SAF, δηλ. τα βιώσιμα αεροπορικά καύσιμα, («ReFuelEU Aviation»), τις προσαρμογές του ευρωπαϊκού συστήματος ETS («Σύστημα Εμπορίας Δικαιωμάτων Εκπομπών») και άλλες ρυθμιστικές δαπάνες.

- Temporary restoration of border checks

On the occasion of the G7 Summit to be held in Italy from 13 to 15 June 2024, the Italian Ministry of the Interior has announced, pursuant to Articles 25 and 27 of Regulation (EU) 2017/399, the temporary restoration of border checks for entry and exit from the Italian national territory.

As a result, for all intra-EU flights entering Italy until 18 June 2024, it will be necessary to provide the details of the identity document that will be used for travel during the check-in process.

Restrictions in Lufthansa's flight schedule due to a strike by the UFO union on Tuesday, March 12 and Wednesday, March 13

The UFO union has called on to strike on Tuesday, March 12 in Frankfurt and Wednesday, March 13 in Munich. As a result, the airline will have to adjust its flight program on both days.

Guests whose flights are affected by the UFO strike are currently being rebooked. This process has the highest priority for us and is still ongoing. We therefore ask for your patience.

Due to an additional nationwide strike by the train drivers' union GDL, train services will be completely canceled throughout Germany on this day (March 12). Guests are therefore advised to use their rail voucher on Wednesday, March 13.

The trade union has called on ground staff at Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Lufthansa Technik, Lufthansa Cargo and other companies to go on a 27-hour warning strike on Wednesday and Thursday (7-8 February 2024).
Due to the strike, we currently assume that around 10 to 20 percent of the Lufthansa Airline programme will be possible on 7 February.

Restrictions at security checkpoints at on 1 February

The trade union has announced strikes by security staff at several German airports on 1 February. Passengers can therefore expect considerable restrictions at security checkpoints.

We strongly recommend that guests who wish to start their journey at , , , , , and airports on 1 February do not come to the airport.

This also applies to customers travelling by to Frankfurt Airport who have a connecting flight from Frankfurt. Due to the strike at the security checkpoints at Frankfurt Airport, they will not have access to the departure area.
