Talking a bit of rubbish! One of the things that may go unnoticed by visitors to the country park is the amount of time and effort that goes into keeping it litter free. Our dedicated, long serving and passionate grounds maintenance team are the unsung heroes of Lochore Meadows Country Park and have been going about their daily tasks of looking after 1200 acres of countryside for nearly 35 years! They take great pride in the park and keeping it clean.

Part of their daily routine is to empty the 65 bins located throughout the country park and undertake litter picking walks to remove rubbish left behind by visitors.

Let's crunch some rubbish numbers:

On average over a year 3 staff spend 2hrs each a day dealing with rubbish in the park.

That's 6hrs a day.

42 hours a week.

2,184 hours a year.

That's 91 days a year clearing rubbish!

Although they never complain, it's time that could be spent on looking after other maintenance aspects of the park.

Next time you drop that can of juice or empty crisp packet or don't clean up after your dog think about what happens next and who clears it up. Think also about the implications it has on wildlife and our environment.

Help our team focus on other key jobs and spend less time on rubbish tasks!

Consider doing some of the following:

- Take your rubbish home
- Reduce, Reuse & Recycle
- Leave No Trace

And if you can't do any of the above at least place your rubbish in one of the parks 65 rubbish bins.

We would like to say a big THANK YOU to the majority of park visitors who do their part and use the bins provided! Your efforts help our maintenance team and make a real difference in keeping our park rubbish free and beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

Help us keep the park and our wider community clean and rubbish free.
