Now is the time to check on friends, family and neighbors. Especially elderly, disabled and children will need help. Volunteering for cleanup in your neighborhood and donating goods like dry cloths, blankets, food, ... will help to get through these difficult times. Many organizations will coordinate, reach out to them directly! Sarasota County Emergency Services, The Salvation Army of Sarasota County, American Red Cross of Central Florida for example, or your local church.

Auditions for the 2024 festival will be August 3 & 4, 2024 at the Woods of Mallaranny (29847 FL-70 E, Myakka City, FL 34251). The auditions will start promptly at 9am each audition day (you only need to come one day, not both).

The Annual Sarasota Medieval Fair is having open auditions for all ages. Novices and experienced players are encouraged to come out for the General Cast and the Human Combat Chess match.

We're very excited for the upcoming festival and bringing new faces into the mix is important to us. We encourage you to come out and have a fun afternoon with us, because we guarantee you will not be disappointed. We know that this is very new to many, so leave your inhibitions at home and be ready to express your character! All ages are welcome, but children 15 and under must have a parent present at the time of auditioning.

Strange things can happen in Florida. Keep an eye on your pets…

HEADS UP! Been seeing more pictures of these deadly Cane Toads in Southwest Florida, including this massive one measuring a foot-long on Marco Island. These invasive toads are bad news for pets! Rainy season is when there are more of them and they’re at peak, mainly coming out at night. If your pet encounters and bites a Cane Toad the impacts will be almost immediate. They release a toxin, and if your dog tries to bite it or carry it, they can become sick and die in as little as 15 minutes without proper treatment.

If your dog bites one, wash the toad's toxins out of their mouth quickly using a hose for ten minutes, being careful not to direct water down their throat. Wipe gums and tongue with a dish towel to remove toxins. Get your pet to the vet!

Since these are an invasive species, they do not have any place in our ecosystem. If you must handle this toad with your hands, use protective latex gloves at all times. Make sure you properly identify the Cane Toad before humanely killing any toad.

Be safe out there! Lots of rain in Sarasota, driving can be tricky!

A Flash Flood Warning is posted for Sarasota until 10 pm. Reports of almost 7" rain near Downtown area. Turn around, Don’t drown. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Good evening, City of Sarasota, Government! Many of our roadways are flooding due to the storm. It’s great weather to stay in and watch your favorite movie, but if you’re going to venture out, please remember:

☔️ Buckle up and use caution on the roads.
☔️ Whether driving or walking, any time you come to a flooded road, TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN!
☔️ Six inches of water will reach the bottom of most passenger cars, causing loss of control and possible stalling.
☔️ Go slow. Give yourself extra travel time.
☔️ Wipers on means your lights need to be on!
☔️ Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize flood dangers.

These are my thoughts about the International Woman's Day: Wonderful to celebrate women once a year, but to be honest, every day should be a Woman's Day, because women are the most beautiful challenges we encounter. Unpredictable, fiery, mysterious, peacekeeping (if they want to:). Here is to celebrate women - I know I celebrate mine!

A great way to learn about a restaurant is when you are the first customer, ordering a good glass of wine, asking for the bartenders favorite menu item and just enjoy what is coming. Today I tried the burger at Thechateausarasota. It was one of the best burgers in a long time! A layer of caramelized onions and a special sauce just sealed the deal! Love to explore experiences, this was a good one! And no, we do not ask for free food like so many others, we just enjoy the ride:) Pay them a visit, you will like it!
