As we ring in the new year, plan to take the trail less traveled!

The park offers nearly 850 miles of trails—plenty of options to explore so you can discover the perfect, less-crowded path for your next adventure.

Whether you’re seeking a challenge or a leisurely stroll, there’s something for everyone—some are rugged and remote, while others are a true ‘walk in the park’.

Consider these alternatives to busy destinations:
🥾Goldmine Loop Trail near Bryson City, NC (~3 miles roundtrip, loop)
🥾Chasteen Creek Cascades near Cherokee, NC (3.6 miles roundtrip; pictured)
🥾Look Rock Tower Trail near Townsend, TN (0.8 miles roundtrip)
🥾Hen Wallow Falls near Cosby, TN (4.3 miles roundtrip; trailhead access road closed until spring 2025)
🥾Quiet Walkways throughout the park (varying lengths)
