I’m a graduate of the Disney College of Knowledge and have visited both Walt Disney World and Disneyland with a preschooler. Traveling inevitably has the risk of delays. Travel agents are susceptible as well. While returning home Sunday our connecting flight was cancelled. Booked a new flight for the next day. Stood in line for an hour to claim my checked luggage. Only to be told that It would be 8 hours before they could get it to me. Which at that time meant staying at the airport until 2 am. And there was no garuntee on that because it was taking the first plane out which was not my scheduled flight.
So instead of waiting I found a hotel near the airport with free shuttle service to the airport. Once arrived and settled in we found our flight was cancelled again. No flight available for two more days!! No cars were available to rent. So we cancelled our trip and booked a roomette on Amtrak. Now that was a relaxing ride.
We boarded the train at 5 am in Charlotte and arrived in Baltimore at 3pm. Went to the airport retrieved our luggage which had flown in on two different flights and one had been there since 2:30 am. The other arrived when we did at the airport and we pulled it off the baggage carousel. It took us 2 days to get home but we are home.
The important thing is attitude. Yelling, screaming, and being rude only makes matters worse. The airline employees are just as frustrated as you are. They are there to help you not make you life miserable but they have policies they need to go by and can only do so much. Keeping a good attitude and a level head is important. I had to consider this a detour adventure. Yes, I was upset. Yes, I was frustrated. But I enjoyed the extra time with my daughter. I saw some breath taking views on the train. My daughter and I slept on the train in the roomette. It had a bunk bed which she was able to lay down. The lower seats could turn into a bed to. We had free meals with the roomette and enjoyed breakfast that was brought to us at a time we requested. Lunch too. Free water bottles were supplied to us. A room attendant who took great care of us. Yes the room was small but with my daughter in the upper bunk I had the lower section to myself.
Happy to be home and I enjoyed the side adventure. I am ready for another adventure how about you?

Watched the crew perform a practice loading of the life boats then we spent the day in Disneys Castaway Cay. Tomorrow is debarkation day.

Lookout cay is Beautiful place to visit. My biggest compliant isn’t the long walk on the pier. With breeze today it was very nice walk. Nor was it the long tram ride to the beach. It’s that there are not enough chairs on the beach to accommodate everyone.
With the wind today a lot of excursions were cancelled.

Welcome to Disney’s new island Lighthouse Point at Lookout Cay!!
It’s a long pier with a 15 to 20 minute walk to get to the island. I am looking forward to seeing what the island has to offer. So stay tuned…

Another fun day at sea today. Drawing stitch, towel folding, more trivia, now frozen musical.
Tomorrow we stop at lighthouse pointe at lookout cay. I am looking forward to seeing this new Disney island.

We sailed into Tortola today. It’s been off and on rainy but fun has still been had by all.
We enjoyed the shopping near the port.

We spent the late morning and afternoon on a trolley tour of the city of Roseau Dominica. We went to the Catholic Church and then to the botonical gardens where I enjoyed some rum punch. Then we were whisked back to the ship on our trolley that looked like a train.
It was a fun time in Dominica.

Did a little shopping today in Saint Lucia. The Steele drums were playing as we got off the ship. Lots of little shops to investigate.

There is nothing better than a relaxing port day onboard ship. Lines are short and I stand a chance at winning trivia! The view from the adult only area on the top deck is spectacular! It’s been a lovely day so far other than on again off again rain which last maybe 30 minutes total. the sun was shining the whole time and the breeze felt perfect.

Land ho!!! We are coming into Antigua today. Running a tad late but we are arriving.

So what do you do on sea days? Play midship detective (we have done the same case several times and always get a different ending), learn to draw Donald duck (sorry I am not an artist), play bingo, watch movies, go to the pool, play trivia and win medals (we haven’t won one yet but we keep trying), there are silent dance parties, crafts or you can get a picture with Disney characters. Thor was running about the decks today. You can even partake in the fish extender gift exchanges which have been loads of fun for us.
You can be as busy as you want to be on a Disney cruise or you can just relax on your verandah. It’s your vacation you do you. For us we do a little of both. Fun activities and relaxing.

So now you know! The second part of our adventure is we have boarded the Disney Fantasy today. We will be leaving port for a 10 night adventure to the southern Caribbean!!

After some rest from the heat we are back at Disney Springs for more shopping.

We have arrived for part one of our adventure. My favorite moderate Disney resort, Port Orleans. We are staying at the French Quarter side. It is such a beautiful resort with its wrought iron railings, lazy sassagula river and magnolia trees.
