Community Service on a Global Scale
Giving back to the community and the world at large has always been a big part of my life. I believe young people today need to see the world and share in experiences that will make them global citizens. To this end, I arrange yearly trips through the American Council for International Studies (ACIS) to Costa Rica to perform community service activities which will not only help students at CHS fulfill their CSIP or CAS requirements, but will open their eyes to the wider reality of the world. Projects may include painting murals, planting trees, visiting orphanages, or helping to track sea turtle populations. At the same time, we will participate in fun, challenging activities like zip lining, going to the beach, horseback riding, hiking, soaking in hot springs, cooking lessons, and white water rafting, among others. Not all activities will occur on every trip, but there will be plenty of time for fun! We'll also learn about the culture, food, and people of this amazing country from our local guide who will be with us 24/7.
Check out the trips on the ACIS website and see what we have to offer!
