Let's help keep little ones safer this winter.

Duvets, quilts, weighted blankets, and other bulky bedding can make babies overheat, even in the coldest months. ❄️ Instead, look at using a higher tog sleeping bag (many manufacturers give guidance on the appropriate tog for different temperatures) or adding another layer of clothing.

🤍 Why should you consider hiring a doula for your pregnancy, birth or postnatal journey (or for all!)? 🤍

Having a doula can often be seen as a luxury but there is strong evidence to show that we make a huge difference to your experiences & outcomes.

A Cochrane review into continuous support for women/birthing people in labour highlighted 6 key areas that are impacted when a woman/birthing person has one person supporting them and only them throughout the birth (as part of the birth team)……

✨ Less likely to have negative feelings about the birth

✨ Less likely to use pain medication including epidurals

✨ More likely to have spontaneous vaginal births

✨ Likely to have a shorter labour by approx 40 mins

✨ Less likely to suffer from postnatal depression

✨ There was NO evidence to show that having continuous support during labour has any negative outcomes

Whilst we understand it can be tempting to wrap your baby up to keep them warm while they sleep, we know that overheating increases the chances of SIDS and research shows that it’s better for babies to be cooler rather than too hot.

To reduce the risk of overheating, avoid using thick bedding and duvets and remove any outdoor clothing and hats when you are indoors. During the winter months, firmly tucked in sheets and blankets (not above shoulder height) or a well-fitted baby sleep bag are fine for babies to sleep in.

How often are new mothers told to not hold, nurture, feed, and respond to their babies as and when they need you?

'Crying is healthy for your babies lungs'

How often are mothers expected to ignore their instincts and their babies?

'Your baby will be too dependant'

How often are new mothers told their new born shouldn't be totally Dependant?

Why do we ask mothers to go against the very instincts that have kept us alive since humanity began?

Its OK to hold, to nurture, to cuddle, to kiss, to feed, to keep close.

We are designed to be one heart...
