TextileSeekers Slow Creative Textile Retreats. TextleSeekers takes travellers on a journey into the historical and cultural heart of a country.

Collaborating with native tribes as guides, we bring you an authentic experience with textiles and traditions that are deeply woven into the daily lives of the local people. In the interest of preserving cultures, we have designed tours centered around our philosophy of ‘slow travel’, which is the practice of building connections between visitors and a community, rather than bussing tourists from

one destination to another. Meet artists and craftspeople, study ancient weave and dye techniques, explore traditional markets alive with local culture, discover handpicked galleries, and visit and stay with local experts and artisans.

A TALE OF TWO FRIENDS Collection 01

Elegantly expressing this duality, the beautiful combs of this collection - handcrafted in matching pairs - tell a tale
that’s deeply personal to me. They speak of cultural significance that resonates from my earliest childhood, and the importance of making friends of our different identities, all while untangling the knots we create as we wander onwards through our lives.

As those closest to me will tell you, I’ve never taken the easy route. I’m a Capricorn, after all, and it’s simply not in our nature to walk the easy road, no matter how tempting and shiny a simple life may seem.
And so, a new challenge arose, and Objects by TextileSeekers began to take shape. The key idea was to introduce items from these communities to a world oversaturated with overconsumption; a world primed for an essence of the authentic, the lovingly-crafted and imbued with generations of storytelling and expertise. Importantly, TextileSeekers isn’t about taking away from these communities. There’s no subtraction here - it’s about utilising experiences, developing designs I’ve been a witness to, and celebrating the mastery and craftsmanship behind each artwork.

| A TALE OF TWO FRIENDS | Objects by TextileSeekers |

Collection 01.

These beautiful combs, each with its partner, and each crafted in accordance with an array of traditional techniques and materials, symbolise in many ways a sense of identity that’s central to who I am. They’re a physical manifestation of the search for ourselves, of the sojourner who may never feel fully at ease or at home, but who has made peace - made friends, even - with this facet of their life. Not settling need not be unsettling - there’s a beauty to the search, and it’s a search that has driven my curiosity and creativity for as long as I can remember.

Thank you to the wonderful team that made this inaugural event so special. It was wonderful to see so many new and familiar faces. It meant so much that my dear friends had travelled to Paris from Barcelona, to share this experience with me and dive ever deeper into the objects and ideas that move us.

These combs, so elegant and yet so viscerally tactile, are a metaphor for all this and more. They enable us to brush out the knots we form as we move through life, to untangle the threads we leave in our wake. They take the complex, the convoluted, and the confused, and with each graceful stroke, reveal the simplicity hiding all along.

Like everyone else, I’m continuing to walk on a journey towards knowing myself, uncovering my identity one tentative step at a time.

No necesito nada.
Solamente a mi.
A mis ojos,
observando.
A mis manos,
creando.
A mis pies,
caminando.
Y mi corazón.
Abierto.
Libre.

Solamente.
Solamente a ti.
Solemnemente a mi.

Collection 01.

Objects by TextileSeekers maintains the values and philosophy of the TextileSeekers travel brand at its heart.

Inaugural event PARIS, Friday 27th Sept
35 Rue Condorcet · 9 arr.
From 7–9pm
Together in our showroom with KM by Lang

Our first collection - a range of artisanal combs and hairpins, crafted from bone, shell or horn - will be released with ten prototypes, and with only twenty pieces per design will be made.

This exclusive and limited run of creations kick-starts Objects by TextileSeekers exactly as we intend to continue: as a definitive pushback against mass consumption, overstocking, and the pressures put on tribal communities to produce more than they can sustainably manage.

Entitled A Tale of Two Friends is, at its essence, a meditation on duality; one which delves into the nature of the sojourner and their inherent restlessness. An exploration of divided identities and of living between separate worlds and nationalities, the collection strives to uncover how connectivity, harmony and friendship can be reached within and between these states of being.

I A TALE OF TWO FRIENDS I Objects By TextileSeekers |

Collection 01.

Our first collection - a precious range of artisanal combs, crafted in Vietnam from bone, shell or horn - will be released with ten prototypes, and only twenty pieces per design will be made. Our combs are placed inside a pouch crafted from silk produced by Ms. Trang of the White Tay tribe.

Combs nine and ten are items to be worn as jewellery, and feature a piece of red cotton fabric that has been blessed by Ms. Nhu from the Hmong tribe; a respected shaman from her community. The blessing aims to protect the wearer, adding a further layer of significance and cultural importance to the item.

This exclusive and limited run of beautiful creations kick-starts Objects by TextileSeekers exactly as we intend to continue: it’s a definitive pushback against mass consumption, the overstocking of products, and the pressures put on tribal communities to produce more handicrafts than they can sustainably manage.

Our philosophy remains that items such as these combs exist to be cherished, with their heritage and provenance central to their appeal.

A Tale of Two Friends - Collection 01.

To shine a spotlight on the deep passion and admiration I hold for artisanal design and the importance of the creative spirit. With the intention to encourage a shared love for beauty, heritage and ancestral design with the world we inhabit and share, Objects by TextileSeekers accentuates the importance of a conscientious approach to consumption and the value of cultural exchange and appreciation.

Every unique piece is hand made by artisans I’ve met throughout my travels, each piece a treasured heirloom - something to pass down to those we love, superseding notions of fashion, trends and time.

| ARE WE IN JULY YET ? |

The countdown begins before the launch of Objects by TextileSeekers. I am excited and nervous at the same time, as it’s taken a long time for me to rebuild my confidence in my work again and, most importantly, to find the balance between design and what feels right for the people I work with. Building a team and nurturing those relationships is key to what drives me to do better and to listen to the ever present voice in my head…whispering to me to take a leap of faith. Sink or swim as they say, I can’t swim, and sinking isn’t an option, however I’m sure I can stay afloat…

Launching September.

SOMEDAY I’LL LOVE OCEAN VUONG I OBJECTS BY TS |

Ocean, don’t be afraid.
The end of the road is so far ahead
it is already behind us.
Don’t worry. Your father is only your father
until one of you forgets. Like how the spine
won’t remember its wings
no matter how many times our knees
kiss the pavement. Ocean,
are you listening? The most beautiful part
of your body is wherever
your mother’s shadow falls.
Here’s the house with childhood
whittled down to a single red trip wire.
Don’t worry. Just call it horizon
& you’ll never reach it.
Here’s today. Jump. I promise it’s not
a lifeboat. Here’s the man
whose arms are wide enough to gather
your leaving. & here the moment,
just after the lights go out, when you can still see
the faint torch between his legs.
How you use it again & again
to find your own hands.
You asked for a second chance
& are given a mouth to empty out of.
Don’t be afraid, the gunfire
is only the sound of people
trying to live a little longer
& failing. Ocean. Ocean —
get up. The most beautiful part of your body
is where it’s headed. & remember,
loneliness is still time spent
with the world. Here’s
the room with everyone in it.
Your dead friends passing
through you like wind
through a wind chime. Here’s a desk
with the gimp leg & a brick
to make it last. Yes, here’s a room
so warm & blood-close,
I swear, you will wake —
& mistake these walls
for skin.

| RESIDENT ARTIST |

We had the pleasure of welcoming Kati on our March retreat. While supporting women and preserving textile crafts, this journey inspired a new collection transforming hand woven fabrics from the many communities we visited into garments.

The KM by Lang Hanoi collection will be launched this coming June.

I think this trip is designed for open-minded, mindful and curious individuals who value crafts, art, and nature and who are eager to share these experiences with new people. “Receive, Give and Share” is the foundation of this trip.

The key value I’ll take away from this journey is “respect”. I believe it is the perfect word to describe the TextileSeekers' experience. Respect is knowing the true value of things and treating them with appreciation, understanding, and even a sense of reverence. It is a concept that is not widely understood in our Western culture, but this trip reminds you how important it is to respect nature, people, and craft. For me, everything starts with respect and this trip encapsulates that idea perfectly.

I EVERYTHING HAS A PURPOSE |

Moving with the season, twice a year in May and October, Mai Chau’s rice terraces transform from lush green to golden yellow, indicating the rice harvest season. The rice is harvested by hand, grains drying by roadside tarps in the sun, and a lingering smoky scent is felt all around. The rice plant is a commodity and every part of the plant is used either as fertiliser, livestock feed and husks as fuel, everything has a purpose.

I BRAND PURPOSE I OBJECTS BY TS |

A quiet passage lined with barbers and street vendors was an ideal atmosphere for this seedling of a project to blossom in an authentic and captivating way - the perfect setting for the first campaign shoot for Objects by TextileSeekers.

A Tale of Two Friends begins to spark our senses and reveal the contrasting grace and commotion that gives the city such a lure.

Our latest venture, Objects by TextileSeekers, is driven by a yearning to bring light to artisanal craftsmanship and cultivate a global creative ecosystem. This creative endeavour is another step towards spreading the importance of meaningful cultural exchanges and extending sincere support to artisans. Visit our website to watch.
