a little road trip means a new place to eat! "Righteous Chicken"- it was good! cheese and onions on biscuits and gravy was a new thing to try...hubby liked it :) my chicken and okra had an interesting flavoring that was just right !

a little Fall road trip to view some color :) up to Cantril Iowa and back! we visited the Dutchman's store, walking path w/ 3 mini covered bridges, a dairy market and a huge round barn! a perfect day to get out for a bit :D

You’ll want to stay home for the holidays this year as Kirksville’s Hometown Holiday returns with an even bigger event on Saturday, November 25.

The Grammy-winning Queen of Bluegrass, Rhonda Vincent, serves as grand marshal for the 12th annual Kirksville Kiwanis Club Christmas Parade. Vincent will perform the ceremonial tree lighting at Dover Park and sing a couple Christmas songs.

“I’m excited to get back to Kirksville! It’s always great to come home, and what fun to be included in all the festivities,” Vincent said. “I can’t wait for this!”

Following the tree lighting ceremony, Santa will be in the Adair County Courthouse for pictures and Living Windows will start at downtown businesses. There will also be horse carriage rides, hot chocolate and carolers around the Square for a night of festive fun.

Another great addition to this year’s event is an ice-skating rink located in the Adair County Courthouse parking lot. More information will be provided closer to the event, but the rink will be up from November 23 to 26.

Downtown Kirksville is the place to be for great community events like this!

we took a little road trip to Centerville IA to check out the thrift stores and found this little gem of a restaurant on the square! The 48th Red Barn Arts and Crafts Festival will be Saturday, September 16th from 9 am to 4 pm in downtown Kirksville. This year we have many new exhibitors and many returning artists, crafters and food vendors. The Entertainment Corner has a line up of great musicians, singers and dancers. The Kid's Corner will again be on the green space north of the Sue Ross Arts Center.

"My Bologna Has a First Name it's O-s-c-a-r" ....
In preparation for National Bologna Day, Kirksville will celebrate Bolognafest.

🏢 Location: Downtown Kirksville

Coinciding with Truman Homecoming activities, this family friendly event is hosted in conjunction with Kirksville’s Kraft Heinz facility. The Kirksville plant produces all of the Oscar Mayer bologna packaged and sold in the world.

As part of the festivities, the vintage Oscar Mayer Frankmobile will make an appearance in the Truman Homecoming parade, which begins at 9:00 a.m. Oct. 21 in downtown Kirksville and runs south on Franklin Street through campus. The Frankmobile will also be on display when Bolognafest kicks off at 3:00 p.m. in downtown Kirksville. In addition to free bologna and fried bologna sandwiches, there will be booths featuring games, prizes, balloons and face painting.

Kirksville’s Oscar Mayer plant has been part of the community for nearly 40 years. A $250 million expansion of the facility was completed in 2017, and the plant now employs more than 1,000 people in northeast Missouri.

Kirksville’s Bolognafest will precede National Bologna Day, which is recognized Oct. 24.
