We are a field tripping family that loves to explore new places and activities. Whether in our backyard or miles away we are game to try something new. While we like to travel we also like to try new activities out in the comfort of our home as well. Join us as we explore New England and try our hand at new crafts and activities. All of the places or items have been family tested by us.

It’s going to be another HOT one here in New England. Check out some of our favorite water locations.

💦Ossipee Lake the mountains view here are straight from a calendar. While one of the largest lakes it’s quiet with clear water and sandy beaches.

💦Wellington State Park in Bristol NH has a mix of sandy beaches, wood lots, hiking trails and fishing possibilities. With the mix of options it’s great for everyone in the family.

💦Sunapee State Park in Newbury NH the water here is so clear and clean. Kids will love the beach and the playground. Some picnic tables under the trees, but plenty of beach space to bring the beach towels and umbrellas to enjoy the breeze and water.

💦Weirs Beach Laconia NH lake meets boardwalk with mountains. You can play in the water and take a short walk to arcade, grab lunch or a cool drink, all with Lake Winnipesaukee in the background

🌊Wells Beach in Maine it feels like you have miles to walk on the beach. Plus you have the small harbor for no waves and looking for sea creatures. But also the choice of waves and sandy beach to relax on.

🌊Odiorne State Park in Rye if you aren’t a sandy beach person this is a great place to explore for sea creatures, get your feet wet and enjoy the sea breeze. No sandy beach here but the park has shady spots, an amazing playground, walking trails to explore the old fort and Science Museum.

🌊Fort Foster in Kittery Point Maine is hands down one our favorites. Playgrounds, forts to explore, sandy beaches, rocky beaches and so much more. This one has something for everyone. Plus you can bring the pups here to cool off.

With the heat wave starting today it’s a perfect day to get some cold treats to cool off. Our family favorites…

🍦Hatchland Dairy in Haverhill NH with beautiful mountain views and some of the best soft serve and waffle cones you can’t go wrong.

🍦Kimballs is our favorite go to for dinner and ice cream. Their fisherman’s platter is delicious and the ice cream is wonderful. Be sure to get a mini unless you really want larger as their portions are large.

🍦 Carols in Rindge the best soft serve sundaes options out there. Even better they put the mics in the middle of the sundae so you can enjoy the ice cream and toppings together without losing bits.

🍦Social Club Creamery in Concord or Laconia I mean does it get better if you can order a flight of ice cream. My hardest problem with ice cream is choosing a flavor to eat. With the flight that is taken care of!

🍦Super Secret Ice Cream another win for the flight of ice cream. Similar to Social Club it’s small batch ice cream with unique flavors to try. I love trying the new flavors and stepping out of my comfort zone.

🍓Island Bowl in Milford and New Ipswich, while not ice cream it’s still cold and yummy. Açaí bowls are a family favorite for breakfast or lunch, fresh fruit and a mixture of toppings, what could go wrong.

When you can’t travel to Holland to see the tulip fields, you take the next best thing visiting The Farm at Wolf Pine Hollow in Hancock NH. With thousands of tulips and more colors than you imagine, you can stop and smell the flowers here. Bonus you can pick your own bouquet of flowers with all your favorites.

Heavy traffic was an understatement…but so worth it to see the 100% Eclipse in St. Johnsbury Vermont. It was incredible to watch the sun slowly disappear into darkness. When we got there it was so warm but you could feel the coldness swiping over the area as it got dark. The bursts were amazing to be watch come out from behind the moon. So unique and incredible to be able to experience a full eclipse. The traffic home was equally long but glad we didn’t have to travel south on 89.

Did you know it takes the weight of two African elephants to cut the fabric for VT Teddy Bears? Or that they 100% replaceable at the Teddy Hospital, the same woman has been fixing them for 25 years.

A stop at the Vermont Teddy Bear factory is always a great place to visit. You can learn how the bears are made and see the workshop in action. Of course you can make your own Teddy Bear to take home and love on. We newly adopted Peanut-butter, who will join the family of stuffies and dolls back home.

Quick stop at Cold Hollow Cider Mill to grab some goodies to eat and of course Apple Cider. Nothing like drinking cold apple cider straight from the maker.

So many varieties of goodies and treats to be had. We grab some honey mustard to try at home with our chicken tenders. And of course apple cider to drink!

When you win the day for a blue bird day of skiing it’s like winning the jackpot. Bonus that there were limited lines equaling up and down the slopes quickly. A great day for skiing Attitash with family.

As a Girl Scout leader I’m always looking for fun field trips to take the girls on but on a budget. This month the girls were interested in learning more about space. The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center is wonderful place to visit, but we couldn’t fit a weekend or week day trip. During our research we found that they host Super Stellar Friday Nights on the first Friday from 6:30-9:30.

💲10 a kiddo and $13 for adults for three hours of a guest speaker, ability to visit museum and a planetarium show.

📌many local libraries have museum passes that you can reserve in advance for admission. One our co-leaders reserved a pass for four. Savings of $46

📌a Christmas my mom purchased a family pass for the Boston Science Museum for $200 which paid for itself in the first visit. With the reciprocal membership I was able to get four of us in free a savings of $43.

💲we ended up paying $30 for this field trip. $2.72 per person. A steal!

Bonus that we had the museum to ourselves for the most part and had a wonderful presenter for the planetarium show. It was a late night but the girls rallied and had a great time.

When you get fresh snow that is perfect for sledding and the kids have a no school day. you move your Girl Scout meeting to earlier in the afternoon and you take them sledding. We spent an hour and half sledding and playing in the snow. I call that a good Girl Scout meeting.

It’s not often that you get to go ice skating in the pouring rain in January. With the weather we have been having this year you never know what you are going to get.

We took our Girl Scout troop ice skating at Strawberry Banke at Puddle Duck Pond. But it’s done nothing but rain and have high tides. Mother Nature created a pond around the ice rink and there were some small puddles on the rink. However the girls LOVE it, even when it started to POUR on us mid way through ice skating. We had to run for cover, once it cleared they headed back out and got see a rainbow come out over the ocean. Such a great time!

Holiday fun doesn’t have to end on the New Year and boy did we get lucky with fresh snow. A family experience was to go see the LaBelle Lights. Perfect night for a walk in the snow to see all the beautiful holiday lights and fresh waffle with chocolate drizzle.

Another ski day in the books….today at Crotched Mountain. While they are still greener and less trails than any skier would like we made best of the open trails. Doing close to 12 runs and loads on time on the terrain park. Skills are getting better each time.

Family fun at the Boston Science Museum. A full family affair with 12 of heading to the city for the day. For my youngest nephew’s it was the first time that they really had been and the excitement was wonderful to experience.

Being a vacation week it was packed but we got to see the train exhibition and the 4D Polar Express. Amazing experience and definitely recommend to do. We didn’t even get to see the full museum, but grandma got the family membership so we will be back soon.

Getting out to explore the woods with the pup. Her first big girl walk and a little bit of off lead running around. Getting her nice and tired. But also a great opportunity for us to stretch our legs and explore Monson.

Back at for another season! Might not be as snowy as years past at the same time, but we still got the runs in. Upside no lines no waiting. Got more than 7 runs in by lunch time and headed home. Icy first thing and spring skiing by the third run.

Congratulations to on their grand opening this weekend of Maple Station in Temple, NH.

Can’t beat getting their fresh maple pecans all year round, plus dinner and other locally sourced treats. Bonus that it’s on the way home from our riding lessons. Quick and easy dinner location for sure, The maple Monty was amazing!

Amherst German Christmas market, so many yummy treats especially the gingerbread soft glazed cookies from Germany. My favorite and I haven’t been able to find until now. Such a beautiful day to be outside enjoying time with friends and family.

A moms day out to take a walk down memory lane and visit Enchanted Village at Jordan Furniture. Originally made for Jordan Marsh in 1958, a Bavarian toy maker created the 28 series with more than 250 animated characters.

When Jordan Marsh decided to no longer put the display up the City of Boston purchased and displayed , however it soon became cost prohibiting to maintain. Going into storage until it went up for auction.

Jordan Furniture purchased the remaining 59 animation and 18 displays. Creating a winter wonderland at their store, welcoming thousands every year to visit at the holiday season to see this wonderful piece of history on display.

We love all the FUN traditions with the holiday season. This weekend we hosted a Gingerbread decorating party for our friends, complete with hot cocoa, crepes bar, and of course tons of toppings that we could eat.

It’s time for our annual trip to Bass Pro to get our pictures with Santa. Wish lists have been submitted, fish have been visited, Lincoln log houses have been built and dad has been dreaming of what Santa might bring.

It’s the season! Time to get the tree, almost every year we head to House By The Side of the Road to walk through all the trees hanging from the sky. The fresh smell of balsam filled the air and you can’t forget to stop to say hello to the turtles and grab fresh popcorn.

A cold blustery day to visit the Cape Cod National Seashore, but it was so pretty and quite.

This season has been rainy and unseasonably cold, but that creates some incredible waves at the ocean. I’ve never seen waves move sideways down the coast like we did here. We even got to see two seals playing in the waves and diving for food.

Timing is everything sometimes with traveling, we got lucky that the Nauset Lighthouse was doing tours, so where able to climb up to the top and see the workings of the light.

In 1620, 102 English Protestants that had been living in Leiden Holland made the 66 day journey to New World. After many delays, they departed from England in September headed towards the Colony of Virginia. They ended up in now Provincetown, after looking for fresh water and farm land, they settled in what was once the Wampanoag Village.

The Wampanoag tribe was once over 100,000, by 1620, the tribe was around 3,000 due to the leptospirosis (7 day fever). The remaining Wampanoag Tribe was vital in helping the Pilgrims survive the first winter. Unfortunately as year later more than half of the original voyagers will have passed from the weather, lack of food and illness.

Only 5% of the cranberry crop is used for fresh cranberries that can remain fresh for up to a year. The remains 95% is used for juice and canning. In the 1900s, there where more than 21,000 acres of cranberry bogs in Massachusetts today there is 13,500 acres making it the second largest producer of cranberries in the USA.

Our family Christmas experience was getting to go to a cranberry bog to learn about how to harvest cranberries. Such a unique experience and interesting to learn about how to harvest and history.

When you get to live at the fair for the WHOLE weekend you get all the food and FUN, plus a lot of hard work.

The first two days have been a ton of fun and a little bit of rain, but nothing some fires dough and bake potatoes can’t fix. So many cute animals, tractors and great life experiences.

A baseball player’s dream field trip…Louisville Slugger Museum! The opportunity to hold a bat that was held by your legions and seeing how the bats are made, is baseball players dreams. The Bar Volt holds 1,000 or more wood bars models. Some as far back as Babe Ruth. Such a cool experience!

Such a cool night experience at Anakeesta seeing the Astra Lumina Experience. A walking star tour, starting with the creation of stars and how they become. The lanterns and I star show is well worth the visit.

Views for days…whether you ride the chair lift up or take the ridge rambler you guaranteed a view and once at the top everywhere you look there is a view. This was a great day long activity we headed there for first thing and took the chair lift up, headed straight for the Rail Runner Coaster. After we grabbed a quick bite to eat and then headed back down to Gatlinburg for sight seeing. The nice part about this pass is you can come and go for the day. We headed back up around 4 pm for dinner and to explore more of the mountain. The mini adventure area for kids was a fan favorite with tons of slide, climbing and views. It was great for parents and kids alike. We then rode the Hellbender coaster and saw a black bear butt while waiting in line. To close out the day we watched the sunset and explored the tree walk at dusk. A great day of adventure, views and food.

Buc-ee’s its massive and your not what sure to look at first! As of this post the Buc-ee’s that we stopped at was the 2nd largest at 74,000 sq feet, 120 pumps of gas, 20 EV charging stations and a 250 ft car wash. However I think most of us are here for the FOOD and shopping. This was a perfect lunch stop on the way to our campsite, we tried the pulled pork and brisket both were really good and hit the hunger spot. We got 4 different varieties of jerky my favorite was the maple cherry and of course the Buc-ee Nug-ee which were really good. One of the best parts was the size of the bathroom, CLEAN and soooo many stalls which is the first for a gas station.

When good friends come into town it calls for a night out on the town with no husband or kiddos. Bonus that our taste buds align so we can share tapas for our main meal. The charcuterie appetizer was amazing with the cheese and sweet topping to mix with them. Brussel sprouts in the cream sauce were yummy but have decided I’m more of a roasted Brussel sprouts girl. Shrimp and sauce was sweet, and the pasta was enough for a main meal. Don’t forget the drink, I fully admit I’m a Pinterest drink girl. If the description sounds yummy I’m in. I went for the Gin and raspberry, it was like spiked Hawaiian Punch. So yummy with the chocolate pate!

We tried the s’mores, oatmeal raisin and chocolate peanut buttercup big fluffy cookies that soft and chewy!

It’s been a science filled week! We are getting good use of our museum pass with another field trip to the @ecotarium in Worcester MA. I love being greeted by the Bald Eagle and then exploring the top of Mount Washington with the wind tunnel and habit exhibits. Exploring several of the New England habitats from city scapes to water ways and so much more. Sadly it was a rainy February, as they have one of the best outdoor playgrounds complete with a mud kitchen and climbing area. 📍Ecotarium Worcester MA 📍$19 per adult and $14 per child 📍open 10-5 pm 📍Current savings with the Boston Science Museum pass $66 for the Ecotarium overall $159

We decided to take a day trip up to Burlington after skiing and visit @echo_vt Museum. A perfect visit before we hit the road home. So many cute exhibits for the kids to try out and learn about science. My favorites were the topography mapping and water exploration, but you can’t be disappointed about seeing all the cute animals. They were getting ready for the eclipse with several displays about space in addition to the permanent displays. Bonus that we got in for free with our museum pass.

Another ski vacation in the books! We headed to Stowe for a few days for February vacation and had the best time. Due to illness we only got one day of skiing but we made the best of it. 14 runs and over 26,000ft of elevation and more than 40 miles skied. We got the best of New England, blue bird days, snow, warm weather, views and fogged in. The lines were short and runs were fast, makes for a great day on the slopes.
