Now leading my annual Essence of autumn photo tour. Today my participants and I were supposed to photograph snow monkeys at Nagano snow monkey park. But today there were no monkeys at the onsen in the park, so as a local I know the region well and I always have a backup, so we visited a Zen sanctuary way off the beaten path in the snow monkey region to photograph. After we headed into the highland for brilliant autumn leaves photography, that are now in full autumn colors. Namaste, Blain in Japan☮️

The Japanese Weasel (Mustela itatsi) sure are cute looking, I especially like to photograph them on cold winters when their fur turns all white. The Eurasian ermine or Stroat (Mustela erminea) are similar and often confused with each other, but the Stroat is much smaller and more slender. I sure am looking forward to photographing either this year in Hokkaido, Japan.
