Human remains found at Mardi Base Camp suspected to belong to missing Swedish national

KASKI, Aug 4: Human remains discovered at the Mardi Himal Base Camp in Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality, Kaski District, are suspected to belong to Michael Liu Blomberg, a Swedish national who went missing in late 2023.

Now the rescue is going on...the search for the passengers of 2 buses that drifted in Trishuli yesterday morning is going on! ❤️‍🩹

Buses went missing in the river when two buses were swept away by a landslide in Simaltal on the Narayangadh-Muglin road. It is estimated that there are 65 passengers including the driver in that bus!

The Kanchenjunga trek is one of the finest in Nepal Himalaya. The trekking route follows Nepal’s mountainous border with India and Tibet.

Mount Kanchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world at an altitude of 8,586m. The summit was first climbed in 1955 by Joe Brown and George Band in a team of British mountaineers. In 1977 an Indian Army team made the second ascent on northeast ridge from Sikkim on Indian side.

We designed our Kanchenjunga Circuit itinerary for gradual acclimatization to high altitude. The ascent profile works best by first trekking to North Kanchenjunga Base Camp. From Pangpema campsite we return to Ghunsa then cross the Mirgin La. After descending from the pass we visit the yak pastures at Ramche and Oktang. There are impressive views of the southwest face of Kanchenjunga and the Yalung glacier.
