Rudesheim, Germany. We had a wine tasting in Rudesheim yesterday. 80% of the vineyards make Riesling, so when in ...Germany...

They have the cutest cobble stone streets with wine and beer gardens everywhere.

On a possibly related note, they do not sell ibuprofen at regular stores. You have to go to a pharmacy and use charades and google because you didn't pay attention in the 3 years of German you took in High School

From Amsterdam, we took a short train ride to Haarlem to visit the Corrie Ten Boom house. We loved the area and it was a nice break from busy Amsterdam.

Originally, I couldn't get tickets to the Corrie Ten Boom museum nor the Anne Frank house since we planned this trip so late. But I kept checking and was able to get both 🙂. So keep trying if you are ever in a similar situation. Both tours were really powerful.

We finished our tour of Amsterdam with the Van Gogh museum and Rijksmuseum and feel like we mastered using the trams, metros, and trains...mostly 😉.

Now, onto our Rhine River cruise...

Europe trip, using points! Day 1

We flew business class to Frankfurt, then took the train to Amsterdam (we had to change last minute because our flight to Amsterdam was canceled (3 times!) due to labor shortage at the Schiphol Airport)

For points nerds only***We took advantage of a great Virgin Atlantic Points sale to get Delta One Business Class tickets. AND Chase Ultimate Rewards program was running a transfer bonus to Virgin Atlantic so for only 59k chase points we got 2 round trip business class tickets! This got us access to both the the Virgin Atlantic Lounge and the Delta Lounge at JFK (Virgin Atlantic lounge was way better and less crowded).
