The purpose of this is to allow for flexible appointments, adequate appointment times (60-90 minutes), convenience to clients, the comfort of a familiar and intimate setting, and the possibility for lots of family involvement in the process. Evidence-Based: While midwifery care may look a little different to mainstream maternity care; such as prenatal appointments in your living room. I adhere to current, evidence-based practices. Clients can expect the safe, quality care and have access to the same testing and procedures offered by mainstream healthcare providers. Clients can also expect to receive accurate information and education that enables them to make the best choices for themselves during pregnancy and birth. Mother-Led: This means that the client, the Mother takes the lead role during her pregnancy and birth. The midwife's job is to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of mother and baby, provide education and resources, and provide support throughout the entire process. However the mother has the bigger job. She is responsible for making healthy, informed choices, taking an active role in her pregnancy and birth, and doing the powerful work of birth. In normal, healthy birth the mother will lead and the midwife will support her with skill and compassion.
