It's quite an experience to meet the of at his official residence. Not bad to have a picture to mark the occasion 😎

The second photo is of the same good looking teenagers, posing in front of the first official president's vehicle; a One-Eighty #1942 model and first used by the office in 1945. A very rare car indeed. It's the longer version of Packard One-Eighty from that year and has 8 cylinders. It's been restored and since then the car is a symbol of eligancy. The vehicle is kept at the National Museum of Iceland, eccept during special occasions.

á . Hér eru myndir af gömlum varðturni sem var við hliðið á Camp Brighton frá 1940. Varðturn, með stórkostlegt útsýni. Hlutverk hermannanna var að verja Reykjavíkurflugvöll. Fyrst komu breskir hermenn og svo tóku bandarískir við. Á meðan veru þeirra stóð, voru þegar mest var, um 500 hermenn á Camp Brighton.

Relics of can be found in several places in . Here are some photos of a guard tower which was at the gate to Camp Brighton in 1940; a guard tower with a stunning view. During the war, as many as 500 soldiers (max) were stationed at that camp (first British soldiers, followed by US military men). Their role was to primarily to protect the domestic airport in Reykjavik.
