“I adore the collection of works by Juan Gomez Quiroz. In particular, I am drawn to lot 188 – the 3 N**e Plaster Sculptures. I can easily see this lot in my repurposed barn out east, now revitalized and painted white. With the addition of skylights, the space is large, open and bright. These sculptures hung consecutively bring movement and dimension; there is a warmth and natural sensuality.

This work would work in a loft too or a modern home, or anyplace that is open. Not expensive, but finely executed and beautiful. I say yes, buy them.”

Duncan Hannah (American, 1952-2022) was an American visual artist and author who counted among his peers Basquiat and Keith Haring. The works above speak to his depictions of romantic realism and retro nostalgia for which he was well known. Lot 22 Venetian Rococo Ebonized and Gilt Carved Taboret $1,000-1,500. A gilt and lacquered ornately carved bench, early-mid 20th century, having opposing koi dragons with curled tails below a leather studded seat with tassels, on a shaped complementing plinth. The koi fish to dragon transformation is a symbol of perseverance, strength, and the reward of overcoming hardship. [23.5” H]. Property of an important NY philanthropic family.
