Melville's Bridge is a small business whose sole aim is to support 16 - 25 year olds through those difficult teen years in to adulthood. Melville’s Bridge is currently raising the money to purchase a suitable property, which once achieved, then Melville's Bridge will provide supported accommodation for the 16 - 25 age group. It is hoped that we will be able to provide a range of accommodation, sta
rting with shared accommodation and eventually leading to their own accommodation. There are many reasons why this is needed for our young people and we can argue the rights and wrongs of these reasons, but there will always be a percentage of young people who find themselves in these types of situations. It does not matter who is to blame (more often than not, it is not the young person at fault), as it does not remove the fact that they will still need stability and support to make the right choices for themselves and if they do get it wrong (and they will, as we all do), then they will need a non-judgemental approach so they can learn from the experience and continue to move forward to their goals. Thus, Melville's Bridge wishes to make a real difference in young people's lives and we so we wish to provide the following services:
• Supported accommodation - (16 – 25 year olds)
• Supporting young people with all aspects of their independence
• Supporting young people with their education
• Supporting young people with their employment
• Re-unification work with their estranged families
Melville's Bridge wishes to provide good accommodation, giving the young person a stable and permanent home. Combine this with ongoing support in all aspects of their lives, then the young people will have a firm launch pad to their future and a real shot of achieving their dreams and goals.
