𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐚𝐭 𝟓:𝟑𝟓 𝐩𝐦: The Blue Angels are headed home. It is less than a 1-hour flight. If we get a Beach Buzz today, we’re expecting it around 6:15ish.
Chatter suggests they may be Buzzing from the West to East this evening.

𝗢𝗕𝗔 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁: Nine years ago, on June 2, 2016, Marine Corps Captain Jeff Kuss was killed when his Blue Angel jet No. 6 crashed during a Split-S maneuver shortly after takeoff in Smyrna, Tennessee. He was flying an F/A-18 Hornet during a practice for the Great Tennessee Air Show.
The photo, by Ken Cooper, captures a solemn moment as Fat Albert is escorted through Orange Beach by jet No. 5, piloted by Lead Solo Lt. Ryan Chamberlain. It was Capt. Kuss’ final “Beach Buzz” as they returned home from Smyrna in 2016. In a touching tribute, Fat Albert flew under the call sign “Blue Angel 6,” symbolizing Capt. Kuss’s role as the team’s Opposing Solo. The gesture honored his memory and reflected the deep respect of his team. The photo was taken on June 7, 2016 at 5:55pm.
This evening, the Blue Angels are expected to fly home from their air show in Smyrna, TN. We should see them in our area between 6:00 and 7:00pm. We will update this post if we receive any additional information. Once the Blues are in the area, watch the comments on this post for updates on sighting locations.
As always, we never know their flight plan or if they'll give us a Beach Buzz and if they do, what beaches they’ll buzz. In the past, they generally made their final turn around Perdido Pass. Sometimes, they’ll turn to land before reaching Perdido Key. Other times they will Buzz the Beaches all the way to Gulf Shores. We just have to wait and see.
Thanks to everyone who's out watching for the Blue Angels from Navarre and Pensacola Beach for posting updates here in the comments when you see them coming. It really helps.
