Queensland Seed Technology Laboratory QSTL is an independently owned ISTA Accredited seed testing laboratory which has been operating in Australia since 2002.

The Queensland Seed Technology Laboratory (QSTL) in Australia has a new owner. The laboratory went up for sale last year and Kym Beliveau purchased it in February this year. She has come with over 25 years seed testing experience in the Toowoomba area starting with Agritech in 1991, and has spent the last 3.5 years establishing her own seed testing lab, Australian Seed Labs. credited laboratory has expanded her business interests into the international seed testing arena. It is one of 5 ISTA laboratories in Australia and the only one in Queensland. Their accreditation includes purity, germination, tetrazolium, moisture testing and weight determination on grasses, cereals, small legumes, pulses, agricultural crops, vegetables and flowers for both bare and coated seed. As well as manual seed sampling on bare and coated seed. The laboratory also has a quarantine facility which accepts samples from all over the world. Kym is not new to ISTA accreditation having worked previously for an ISTA accredited lab. QSTL was established in 2002 by Karen and Murray Hill. In 2014 they moved the lab from the Gatton campus of the University of Queensland to new premises in Withcott, Queensland, which included moving the 15,000+ seed collection. Murray has now retired to New Zealand to be with his family. Kym retained all the staff at the lab as their experience is invaluable and she understands the importance of continuity in seed testing. Recently, Kym attended her first ISTA meeting in Denver, which she found very informative, interesting and enjoyable, meeting so many other like-minded seed analysts. It was a good opportunity to make business contacts and meet people from ISTA, AOSA and SCST. QSTL attained their first ISTA accreditation in 2002. Toni Romeo, who has continued as the Laboratory Manager, has been present for each audit. She has a vast knowledge of seed testing and her and her capable team bring their professional experience and integrity to the lab. Later this year, all the ISTA labs in Australia are having an ISTA audit.
