'Dirt work begins on 4-story Hyatt Place Hotel in Casper'

CASPER, Wyo. — Construction of a 100-room Hyatt Place Hotel on Casper’s east side is underway.

According to a City of Casper new construction commercial building permit, JJM Group Hotels plans to build a 60,757-square-foot, four-story Hyatt Place Hotel at 407 N. Walsh Drive.

The 5-acre property is near the U.S. Post Office and East Side Homes off Forest Drive, and sets directly below and to the south of Interstate-25. Evansville’s welcome sign is to the northeast just under the nearby interstate overpass.

JJM Group Hotels also owns Candlewood Suites Casper and Casper Hampton Inn and Suites.

Hotel representative Tammi Chappell said a groundbreaking on the new project is planned soon.

“Hopefully, the foundation will go up by January,” Chappell told the Natrona County Travel and Tourism Council during its Nov. 28 meeting.

Depending on weather conditions, she said the hotel could open in 18-20 months.
