Light, breathable clothing for the warm weather along with a light jacket as it can get quite cool in the evenings. While visiting the villages, women must make sure that their hair, shoulders and knees are fully covered; for men, legs should also be covered with a t-shirt being an acceptable attire. Headscarves are not compulsory for women out of the main villages.

As a preserved UNESCO island, public transportation is unavailable in Socotra, the tourism infrastructure is very limited. It is unlikely to be able to rent a vehicle or navigate through hotels and restaurants on the island.
