At the southern most tip of Africa exists the greatest number of species available to the privileged few who answer the call to hunt, and be at one with the outdoors. Ballantyne Safaris has been operating since 1975 and is a family run operation. We are situated in the beautiful and historic Eastern Cape of South Africa. The Eastern Cape is home to over 30 plains game species. These animals range

from the tiny Blue Duiker to the large Cape Eland. There is a large diversity of terrain, ranging from the mountains to the Karoo plains right down to the coastal forests. The Eastern Cape is a Malaria and Bilhazia free area. Hunting is done all year round, the best times being from March to October. You can expect to have some rain while you are hunting so a light rain coat will be useful We have an excellent success rate with both rifle hunting and bow hunting.

After a very long day, we were super lucky to get both of these trophies. We had been out since early in the morning, and in the windy conditions, hunting was not the easiest. While walking, looking for a kudu, we came across this Red Hartebeest. After loading him up and moving to a slightly different area we were able to find the elusive grey ghost! Two really great trophies!

Buffalo hunting is a dream for so many of our clients. This stalk and hunt did not disappoint - an excellent shot and a great trophy!

After sitting in a good vantage point for a few hours, this beauty appeared. There was a good stalk and set up for the shot, which was taken just as the sun was setting. A great afternoon's hunt!

Steve's first trip to Africa and he and Nancy had a really fun time. Nancy isn't a hunter, but she enjoyed her time out in the bushveld. Steve managed to shoot a kudu at last light and also got a beautiful Eland!
We hope to see Steve and Nancy again soon!

After a few days of solid rain, the weather gave us a break this morning. We headed out early and spotted a herd of kudu while we were driving. The herd ran away and disappeared into some really thick bush. We went ahead - to where I thought they might come out. We found a good advantage point and sat and waited. After waiting some time, the herd eventually snuck out of the bush.
Jarrett took a good rest and shot it at 270 yards with a 7mm REM MAG topped with a Swarovski scope. One shot through the heart, and it was down.

This massive bull measured in at 54 inches!

Nice kudu starting the season off properly! Little R***r, our tracking dog, got a little close to one of these bulls and got a horn to the face! A couple stitches later, he's as good as new!
